Strathroy,
Alright well Iv always had problems starting the car but not like this... heres what happens

It turns over and even sounds healthy but it wont startup. Today I tried and tried and was about to give up went I accidentally started it in gear with no clutch and it jumped a little and I was like ohh shit! then I took it out of gear and it started perfect!

Man my car must have the DSM troll in it because im baffeld.

I replaced the sparkplugs to 6's and the sparkplug wires look farly new themselves.

What should I be checking? Should I be checking out the injectors to see if there clogged (there was 2 year old gas in there on empty and I ran it till most of it was out but I didnt car because I have new 580's im gonna be replacing)

Is it something electrical? could it have something to do with the SAFC settings?

Brad :)

Check your starter to make sure it isnt cracked, also check for a cracked or corroded distributor, the same goes for battery terminals. Check your ground wires. If all else fails try starting it with WOT, that theory works for my 2 cyl desiel boat engine. Otherwise goodluck and I hope some of that stuff helps.

Well I went out to the car and Put my foot to the floor and turned the key and sure enough it started... I was like wtf!?!? LOL I was happy that it started but I dont wanna do that the whole time I own this thing LOL now heres a thing my SAFC I bought off a friend of mine would the settings he put still be saved on the safc so its making my car lean? Brad, the reason it started with the pedal to the metal is because there is too much fuel in your mixture, hold the throttle open allows more air to reach the cylinders. First thing I would do is to check the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor located at your thermostate housing. A defective/disconnected ECT will report low negative temperature readings to the ECU causing ECU to dump fuel to help with what it thinks is a REAL REAL COLD start there by flooding out your cylinders.

oldman, you are very wise and you have answered alot of my questiuons in the past I thank you so much for that, so would my logger show a bad ECT sensor? or how would I find that out? how about my SAFC, you think the SAFC would have the old settings to the guy that owned it? Ill go out there tomorrow and see what the settings are (im learning slowly about my dsm :) )

thanks
Brad :)

If you have a logger then just look at what the coolant temperature reading is compares to ambient temperature.

What are your mods? YES, anything fuel/tuning related can be the cause, that also includes the fpr.

Well I dont really have too many mods but here they are:
k&n, mbc, 3" turbo back ,2G manifold ported, o2 Ported

I have new lifters and 580 injectors but Im not installing them because I still have old gas in the tank (im putting 94 octane in to flush it out but until its gone then ill put them in)

Brad :)

yup I still have the 450's in for now. I went out there today and rechecked my settings and everything looks normal (I followed that web page that showed me how to set everything) the only thing i dont know if its right or not is the low throttle and high.
For low it shows 20 and for high it shows 80

Brad :)

Just Zero out the Safc and retune. For low and high do you mean on the Safc its adding those percentages of fuel ? 20% on low throttle is a ton for a car that probably doesn't need tuned much considering your mods. Zero out the Safc and then tune again.

Exactly, your low settings should be zeroed out and focus on taking out fuel at WOT to bring the factory 9.5 : 1 a/f to 10.5-11.0 : 1, I would just zero everything out for now until the 580s are installed.

niiice ya because im going to be putting this car on the road and I really dont wanna look like a tard trying a million times just to start my car LOL thanks for all your help guys!

Brad :)

ha ha no its 11 PM the exhaust wakes my entire town when I start it LOL but I will give you details when I try it tomorrow I noticed smoke coming from the exhaust too but compressions are good so Im thinking maybe it was too rich... or maybe thats just what 3" exhaust is gonna smell like (like a lawn mower, or ski doo smell)

LOL anyhoo well see tomorrow :)

Ok so I went out and the setting is called Th-Point to 0 for low and high i put to 80? im gonna read more about safc and figure out what all this is for but right now i just want everything to 0. But when I tried to put the high to 0 it would go to 1 the lowest
any input?

Brad :)
