I have a 90 gsx. About a 1.5 months ago my headgasket blew. I decided to take the engine and tranny out, i wanted to check out some things. Put it all back it. Put the tranny and block in as a unit then i bolted the head/intake/ect ect on it. I have a couple wires im not sure where they go, 1 is over by the battery, BIG wire, looks like a ground strap, black with yellow stripe, looks to be on the same part of the harness as the starter wires. I think i have a few more, but i can figure them out. But i also have no spark. Motor turns over fine, just no spark. Both wires are plugged into the coil pack. I did have the ecu out of it (checking to see if i had eprom), i put it back in. Any sugg4estions would be great. Im about ready to pull the darn intake off and start over with the wiring. I hate leaving the car sit apart for a month, i forgot everything :(

There should be two ground straps that are black with yellow tracers: One of them should go from your neg(-) battery terminal to one of the starter bolts on the bellhousing. The other should go from the (-) to the firewall. I believe there is a hole already drilled in the firewall for the second ground strap. As for the spark problem, your best bet would be to test the wiring harness on the coil pack for the correct source voltage. If you find you do have the volts, check the coil pack itself. If you don't have the correct amount of continuity, I would say it's the coil pack itself.
