Problem with new rings

Hey everyone,
Im in the middle of putting my 7bolt motor back together and came to a shocking conclusion that my oil rings and the compression ring are to thick for the piston ring groove (yes wierd i know) The piston rings were ordered through Parts America (which i found through NAPA i believe i cant remember i ordered them so long ago) now my question is....whats the fitment suppose to be like when you install new piston rings? Tight? not so tight? or what? And yes i bought a piston ring groove cleaner thinking there might be more buildup in the grooves themselves and i just cleaned them up as good as possible and they still dont fit. Im not sure what i`m suppose to do here.

If they dont fit, they are the wrong ones.. DO NOT jerry-rig anything like that.. Get the right rings..

Ok but the thing is...im on the number 2 cylinder now (number one cylinder is still out of the motor) and after cleaning the gunk out of the grove....now the 1st ring AND the compression rings fit...the oil rings im having a little clearance issues...this is stupid getting me all fustrated now this is going to be my second set of rings and now i have to regap them again geez all that hard work down the drain
