Okay I'm at a standstill. I have 4 old turbo pistons that are going into a non turbo block. i have new rings already for them, but they wont fit. The 3rd ring gets caught near the gap.

Ive never dealt with rings/pistons before so its a learning experience. But i cannot afford new pistons right now.

Is there a tool they make that will take the warp out of the piston. or can I just file it down?

please help i need this motor running =\

If the pistons warped its no good. No you can't sand it down it will throw off all the compression. Also if there turbo pistons going in a N/A motor that your not going to turbo you will have no power at all. The turbo pistons are 7.8:1 compressions ration if out of a 1g turbo and 8.5:1 in a 2g turbo i believe. The N/A pistons stock come with something like 10.8:1 i believe.
Also are you sure your pistons are warped?? What makes you think that? Sounds like you need to sand the gap down on the rings a bit so it closes down.. To do this yes you need a special tool.

Well yes it's getting a turbo. i wish i could explain the ring problem better. i didn't mean it was warped just the gap is and its stopping like a centimeter of the ring from fitting.

Can you take a pic im confused? Are you saying the ring is warped or to big? Or is it the ring lands on the pistons? Try swapping rings around and see if it goes on.. Is the ring upside down?
They do have to go on a specific way if i remember correctly.
there is a special tool looks like a wheel sander that is used to sand down the gap of the rings. You take them put them in the cylinders if they fit completely flat and the gap comes together tightly your good. If they go in and are sideways or the gap is overlapping its still to big.

okay to my knowledge the lip on the ring goes down right?
and yes i can force the ring into the groove but its so tight there is no play on one side.
like the ring is supposed to fit into the groove and i can pinch it to make the gap touch..then when i let go the gap opens again right?
Well the ring just has a hard time fitting into the piston in one little spot x.x but like i said i can force it into the piston but its too tight

Yes you're right it makes more sense but money is a factor aand i have everything to finish the rest of the build

Ya i believe it does but i havent rebuilt anything for a while.. Ive got all my notes somewhere il see if i can find them. It sounds like the rings are to small there should be play while they just sit on the pistons.. If there isn't then its just too small and if you havent already grinded them id send them back and get the proper ones. Like i aid if you could post a couple pics that would greatly help too see exactly whats happening.

ill try to get pics asap, i thin k they are the right sized rings just the groove on the piston is effed up idk
