i am burning 2 qt's every time i fill up with gas, i drive a 1g talon tsi awd. i thought it was the turbo so i replaced it with a 16g that i got from a friend. it still burns oil though. it only does it when it's warmed up. and at wot. i checked the turbo there is no shaft play. i was thinking it might be the valve stem seals because when i bought the car it had a rebuilt head on it with like under a hundred miles. so i don't know if the guy beat it before i got it or what. some people have said it could be that and others said it could be the piston rings, i did a compression test and they came back something like this, 120-119-124-120 (not in that order) i did the test while the engine was hot. some people are saying that the oil rings can be bad and the oil can be getting past them and that i can still have good compression with that happening.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same prob on a fresh rebuild. I bought it from a local rebuilt and assembled the engine. I lose a qt every 600 miles or so, but it seems like it is only being lost when I go wot. The head was rebuilt and there are new rings. I do not see any blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. I still have to check compression. I have a new turbo on the motor that was insalled at the same time.
Thanks
Jared

I believe the service limit on the compression is 140+psi. Ya did the test with the TB open correct?

It could be the turbo but if those are the numbers it is probably blown rings. Take the oil filler cap off and lay a piece of paper over it. Does the paper fly up?

:X no i didn't do it the thorttle body open.. i didnt' know i was suppose to.

the paper bounces up and down it doesn't really launch off or anything
