The engine in my talon originally came from my 90 gst which I bought with a frozen turbo. I replaced that turbo with a used 14b soon after and it started burning oil at what seemed like totally random times so i thought because the turbo was used etc that it was the seals leaking oil into exhaust. Over time I noticed that the smoke out of the tailpipe occurred when the car was sitting idling for like 3-5 minutes. For instance if I drove the car all day on the freeway no smoke. If I drove the car for an hour and parked it idling it would start bellowing smoke after 3-5minutes.. revving the engine to 1500-2000 stops the smoke after 15-30 seconds. So I bought a EVOIII and installed it thinking that I had fixed the problem but it happens the same as it always has. I did a compresion check when I first got the car and i don't remember what the numbers where but they were the same across all cylinders.

Valve seals :thumb: Almost 100% sure in this case. I had the same problem and that's what it was. When you start the car up you might see a puff come out then as well.

When the car sits at idle, the valves to not move as fast as when you are driving, or revving of course. When valve seals get old they tend to let oil slip by and get into the combustion chamber, when you rev. or are driving the rapid movement restricts the oil from getting in somewhat. When the car is off is another time the oil gets past them, therefore when you start it up that smoke will initially be burnt off
