Problem using stock fuel system, but with 950s instead of the 450s?

I'll be ready to break my engine in real soon. It's fully built; cams, rods, pistons, 255, 950s, DSMLink, AFPR, blah blah blah. I was originally going to just run the stock pump and regulator during the break in along with the stock 450s, and set my global fuel settings to zero in DSMLink. Well, I found out that I'm missing some of the rubber seals for my 450s and the ones I do have are bad, and I don't really want to buy a set of new seals when the 450s are going to be replaced as soon as the break in process is done. My question is; do you guys see a problem with me breaking my engine in with the stock fuel system, but with 950s instead of the 450s? DSMLink is chipped for the 950s.

Thanks!

P.S. I'm new to the whole tuning part, so bare with me :coy:

You can run whatever injectors you want. Just dial them in properly. If your DSMLink is already set for 950s, all you need to do is adjust your LTFTs and STFT. You also don't want to keep your fuel sliders at 0. Usually from the factory it is too rich. Get a good tune as you would for any car and drive. Also, why not throw in the fuel pump and FPR while you're at it?

Another option is just to use the new seals with the 450s. They should be the same. Just transfer them to your 950s when you're ready to switch. They're not a one-time use item.

Which motor break-in method are you planning to use?

If you still use your 450cc injectors with bad seals there will possible be a fuel leak but if you maintain your wideband reading to what's right you should be fine. However you don't have to rely on using 450cc injectors to break in your car. Break-in a car is just holding yourself back from what you think you shouldn't do.

If I throw everything in, and do not touch the DSMLink settings (since it's set up for 950s) I should be good for the break in? Then start tuning when it's broken in? Also, does anyone have a good link/tips for setting the base fuel pressure on a brand new setup?

Thanks! I appreciate the help!

It will probably run without symptoms, but be rich, just like from the factory (VERY rich: a few percent richer from 450s will not be a huge issue, but with 950s you just more than doubled the amount of fuel that is rich from the factory, which could cause some problems under heavy throttle). You don't have to do any agressive tuning, but I would recommend taking a few points out of fuel. I would also recommend a wideband just a keep an eye on your fuel trims. (I always take out ~10 ticks out of my fuel sliders across the board right off the bat). You should also adjust your LTFTs and STFT at this time since they do not require anything more than easy driving to set.

Needless to say, all your adjustments will be a waste if you have not done a proper BLT.

As far as setting the base fuel pressure... just start the car and adjust to 43psi (vac hose OFF).

And like I asked earlier... which method of break-in will you be using?

In addition to what is written on their PDF, be sure to keep the car in gear when slowing down from higher RPMs to alow the cylinder chambers to see plenty of vacuum. Yet another factor you can add to their "variation" methodology.

LOL I think your name should be No_skillz at reading :p j/k

Thanks for the concern though!

I think I will just throw all the fuel mods in right off the bat. Makes more sense in the long run. Thanks guys!
