I was wondering how to properly prime a turbo before startup. And also how important is this? Could it be the difference between a good turbo and a blown turbo in the far future?? Thanks

I would consider it important enough to do any time you're changing your oil let alone when installing a new turbo. Anyway, pull the 20 amp MPI fuse from the underhood fuse box (it's the one marked Moteur). Crank the motor over in 10 second increments 3-4 times to prime the oiling system. Reinsert the fuse, start the motor and you're done.

Cheers,

Andy

Yes never just immediately start the motor without priming it and letting it lubricate. Also check all lines to make sure you have no leaks. Like my turbo is water-cooled, check all the coolant lines.

Well put Andy

I do. I fill up the sytem with fresh oil, and prime it 3 times for about 10 sec, then pop the fuse back in, start the car for about 10 sec, and top off the oil level after it has fully circulated through the engine, filter, and my big ass external oil cooler.

Hmm... Maybe i'll start doing this. Just have to pull the fuse eh?
