Want to do some preventative maintenance while I have the trans out. Here is what I'm doing so far

Transmission
New axle seals and out shaft seals
New act disc
Resurface used aluminum flywheel (purchased from classifieds) stepped .610" & resurface my used pp
New TOB & clip
New pivot ball - will most likely shim
Used competition clutch fork

Also replacing rear main seal

Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks
Tony

You've got most of the things listed already.

I'd add to check for the little breather on the back of the trans and the 3 rubber vents also. They are nice to have if yours are missing; less dirt and water getting in etc.

Additionally, and this is something I didn't do when I had my trans off and now I'm kicking myself for it... The seal on the shifter lever. It's notorious for developing leaks. Mine's been leaking for a year now. But for that you need to take the first part of the case off to get access to the selector shaft so you can replace the seal itself. I just hate transmissions.

Thanks, Stefan! All the breathers are there and are in good shape. I don't think I'll change that seal for the shift lever. This trans isn't leaking and I don't feel like taking it apart. Plus, I've never taken a trans apart and don't want to unless I have to. Also read that to change the output seal on the trans, some say to pull the output shaft which requires partial disassembly, and others say you don't have to so we'll see how that goes. LOL

At a bare minimum grab the input shaft and see if it has endplay. If it does I'd open the case and check play.

Thanks, Pauley! Pretty sure that’s the first thing I checked when I took the trans out but I will check again.

The output shaft is just held in with a detent ball and they often come out of the trans when removing the t case. I think a little play there would be normal, mine has a few mm of wiggle room.

That’s good to hear. Thanks 91!!

Zero play in the input shaft but a few mm of play on the output shaft. Is this a cause for concern?

Specifically why I added comment. People freak out all the time. That isnt a shaft subject to bearing preload.

I wasn’t freaking out. Just didn’t know that’s all :idontknow:
