I have fixed all of my boost leaks. Tuned to 14.7 @ idle. AFR look good while driving, but when I should be hitting boost I get a howling sound. Pretty sure the turbo seals are toast. I am also blowing out smoke on accel. Does this sound right?

ZERO boost. Gauge never goes above the 0 mark (Autometer Gauge T'd at the fuel pressure regulator) When I installed there was very minute side to side and NO in and out.

Yes white with a blue tint. Defiantly smells like oil and not the sweet smell of coolant. I had a honda blow a head gasket and I will never forget the smell of burning coolant! LOL

So mine just went this morning on the way to work, pretty sure it blew. No visible smoke that I can see, but it's 95 degrees out. Happened on the highway after a pull, immediately started howling. No obvious boost leaks, I'm still at work so I haven't checked for shaft play or anything yet.

Sounds like a bad turbo to me, terrible sound.

Just took out the turbo. There is a little oil in the j pipe, but a lot in the exhaust pipe. No in and out shaft play and not a lot side to side either. @JusMX141 can you PM me your address?

Did yours sound like mine? Just curious.

Just tell people it is a supercharger, problem solved.

ROFL  if only that would fly

Btw, @ErikTande, quite jealous of you being on roadkill.

I have nothing else to contribute other than losing a turbo like this sucks :sosad:

Sounds like your car turned into a vaccum cleaner LOL. Do a boost leak test first before pulling the turbo. I rem back when my other 14b was bad it made more of a whine sound and blew a lot of smoke.

0 Boost. The gauge never goes over 0. I never checked to see if it was spinning when it was running. I had a friend listen to the engine while it was running. I gave it a high rev, and he instantly said "yeah that turbo is f'd" he said it was whining really loud.

I had all of the same symptoms just about. My whining sounded a little different than the video though. Long story short Justin told me some foreign object somehow made its way through the turbine wheel and it was destroyed. Never found out what went through it, but its all back together with a new turbo and running better than ever now so I guess ill just have to chalk it up as a fluke. If you haven't already, take off the compressor and turbine housing and check the condition of the wheels. If the turbo is out of balance, it wont make any boost.

You need to take your intake pipe off and look for yourself. Not saying your turbo isnt f'd, it very well could be, but a boost gauge registering 0 doesnt necessiarly mean something is wrong with the turbo.

Took the turbo apart. The hot side had a lot of oil....everywhere. And there were a few blades that were damaged. Possible that something (not from my car) went through it.
