So im in the middle of installing my new clutch(xtd satge 3) and I get the flywheel(fidanza lightweight 6 bolt) on and as i try to get the pressure plate on to the flywheel it wont go on but when the clutch disk is out it sits right on the flywheel with ease. Any suggestions??

+1 on the disc direction. Check it make sure it is Going the right way, should have a sticker saying flywheel side

As stated above that's how the clutch works. If you were expecting the pressure plate to sit flush against the flywheel it won't. It's not supposed to. It will once you bolt it down. You'll notice the fingers moving inward as you bolt it down. Just use a criss cross pattern until it's down and torque to spec.

A little old, but should the pressure plate sit flush ALL the way down to the flywheel? Or is it ok for the PP to be about 3/16 away from touching the flywheel? Not to mention I'm getting about 22ft/lbs on it. It's a 90 turbo awd.

The pressure plate needs to sit completely flush with the flywheel. If it isn't than something is wrong.

You slide the clutch disc onto the pilot, stick the pilot into the flywheel hole, slip the pressure plate over and line up the bolt holes...then tighten the bolts until it sandwiches the clutch disc against the flywheel. Then torque to spec....it really isnt that complicated. The outter rim of the pressure plate needs to seat against the flywheel, but the inner face will be seated against the clutch disc. Just make sure the disc is centered or you will have to do it all over again when you go to put your tranny back in.

i think the issue is the bolts im using, ive got 25 mm in there, i bought new 8.8's for the rebuild. i was thinking they were a tad long, anyone know what they should be? 16mm? 20mm?

I am having the same problem, I cant get the pressure plate on over the clutch disc. It lines up perfectly with the clutch off, but with the clutch on it seems theres not enough room and theres a roughly 1/8 inch gap between the flywheel and the plate. I have an ACT 2100 pressure plate, act street disc and fidanza alum flywheel

Can I put some washers inbetween the pp and flywheel or is that a bad idea

You can't do that. Remove the pressure plate and try again, there must be some obstruction that is not allowing you to bolt the pressure plate down flush. As mentioned remember the star pattern and like spyder1219, ensure you are using the correct bolts.

bolts are oem, it just wont sit flush on the flywheel. It gets close when I put some torque on them but never touches

Got it to work, atleast ill find out for sure if my clutch doesnt disengage LOL

Seems I was just being over cautious when I was tightening them down. They all torqued down to 14lbs after 5-6 go arounds in the star pattern, thanks for the help folks
