I've got a real wierd issue with a Greddy full auto turbo timer 2, the remote display version if it makes a difference,

When I installed the first one it seemed to work fine so I buttoned things up and went for a drive. A few minutes in the timer beeped and started the countdown cycle! Now there is no risk of the engine shutting down since the key is in and on but the timer counts down to zero, beeps, and shuts down and then almost immediately turns back on, remember the key is in and the engine is running.

At first I though it was a random glitch but then it did it again, and again, and again!!! Now it's not a problem unless I pull the key mid countdown because I won't get the fill count but the biggest issue I have is that I can't reliably use the full auto feature because whatever time it's accumulated gets zeroed out when the timer false triggers.

I sent the unit back to Greddy and they sent me back a new unit (in the retail box). I installed that one and the same thing is happening. It's a brainless install using the Greddy cable that simply plugs in line, the only connections you must make are for ground, and ebrake, and speed signal (purple and brown wires harness).

Similar brainless cable...

Anyone else have this problem and if so how did ya fix it?

Turbo timers are overated and really not necessary, BUT!! I have a great electronics guy that works from home, and incurage you to check into someone with electric experience with like subs, stereos, car alarms might be able make sure all wiring and setup is good on it. It's hard to say whats really wrong with out looking at it and how it's setup.

Something is triggering the timer and telling it that the keys are no longer in the car. I would look into the wiring harness. Dont take Greddys word for it that its wired correctly.

I have no experience with greddy but can you get a plug and play harness from hks?

For the most part all the harnesses are basically the same... I've played with a few but I am using the Greddy version just to keep things in the same family... especially since I contacted Greddy to complain!

Stereo guys that understand subs and amps are not what I would consider experts... I've seen more hack jobs than I'd like to count. I'm an electrical engineer... I have wired/rewired several cars... in working on my 16V I redesigned parts of the electrical system to make it more efficient and reliable (and do stuff it didn't do before)... I know electronics. I'm the guy my friends come to for wiring help or if they have electrical problems. The issue isn't installation, the problem is faulty operation due to something in the module or harness (my opinion)...

Flaatr, would you mind posting a picture of wiring diagram for this timer? Have any other wiring-related mods been done to the car?

I really haven't done anything more than use the plug and play harness and made 3 extra connections... ground, e-brake trigger, speed trigger (from ECU). The DSM is going to get it's wiring re-configured (see above) since there are several things I've found while studying the wiring diagram that I don't like and there are a few features I want to add but I haven't gotten there yet.,, right now, except for the dual speed, dual fan controller I built the wiring is all stock.

I totally agree with you... so does the timer simply trigger off the voltage from ign or acc or does it sense rpm from alternator noise and trigger when it can't see that? I was thinking that if it's a simple voltage drop then I should be able to add a large'ish cap to ride out any transient dips but I'm getting ahead of myself. The timer should work out of the box... I paid a bunch of money for it and modifications just to make it simply function are wrong!

It sounds like this has happened in the Supra and 240 world too... no one has posted a solution. Greddy (US) said they are unaware of the problem but are going to email Greddy (Japan?) to see if it's been reported there.
