    What are the benefits of pre turbo meth inj. I just installed a single nozzle system post intercooler, but have been reading some about pre turbo and was just wondering if it would be beneficial to go to a dual nozzle set-up, one pre one post

    Denser charger for 1. Temps will drop significantly and your turbo will become a bit more efficient.

    There is a good bit of reading online you can do on this site and others that cover this (placement, size, mixture, etc).

    Isn't there an issue with caviation on the compressor blades, and the possibility of it pooling up in the intercooler?

    If done wrong, yes, you can ruin the blades and pool in the intake. Keep pressure high and flow low.

    Better to use water pre turbo then meth. Meth will eat away at the compressor wheel.

    I ordered a Coolingmist Water/methanol injection kit last week, and was very interested in the idea of running 1 small nozzle pre-turbo and a bigger nozzle post intercooler. When I asked about it I was simply told pre-turbo injection is not recommended. Because of that advice I did alot of reading on this afterwards. Considering that power increase is what most of us are seeking... The part that I read which made the most sense to me was this.....

    ...If your turbo is running in its efficiency range or lower, then cooling isnt much needed pre-turbo (especially if you have a good intercooler). If you're within your turbos efficiency range (or not even in it yet), then you're better off simply turning up the boost to gain the increase in power that you seek.

    BUT If you are pushing your current turbo very hard (maybe even above its efficiency range) to the point your turbo is pushing hot air, then pre-turbo injection might become a solution to help you cool your compressor & air charge to squeak-out the extra bit of performance in your set-up

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Considering I run a turbo about the size of a GT37R, and Im only around 28-30psi max ...the above made alot of sense to me. That & the stories about problems with turbine failure due to pre-turbo injection. Those two things were enough for me to forget about pre-turbo injection
    The reason I'm going to run pre turbo water injection is because I'm pushing an Evo 3 16G to the limits.
    Check out the Aquamist forums, there is a big thread on pre turbo water injection.
    It will help at any level. It makes the intake air denser then ambient by cooling it. This accomplishes 2 things.
    1. reduces the amount of work the compressor has to do to compress the air, because it is partially compressed before it goes into the turbo. Therefore, the turbine has to extract less power out of the exhaust, and then the pressure goes down, so the VE goes up!
    2. The turbo "choke" is is a volume limit, so if you make that volume more dense, then it weighs more. Therefore, the actual air mass it can output goes up! It essentially, extends the compressor map to the right.
    If you're pushing a E316G to its max then pre-turbo injection is worth a try.
    If you're not pushing your current turbo to the max then everything I read says you don't need to spray pre-turbo.
    In regards to people who have injected pre-turbo without really needing it to cool hot air... Ive read account by people that have had the intercooler warm the air back up to ambient temps before it reached the manifold ...effectively canceling out the cooling benefits.
    I think this is one of those practices that is different for each individual and car.
    Google it and do some research. Theres alot of debat on this in the Turbo Diesel and GN forums.
    Did you ever end up injecting pre turbo on the Evo3 16g? I'm throwing around the idea myself and can't seem to find anyone that has any sort of solid results on a small turbo.
