I'm about to install the punishment racing fmic on my buddies '96 GST, I know how the bumper is trimmed on the 2gb, is there some trimming on the 2ga bumper as well??

Yes, and not just some, it's a good deal of trimming.

This install is essentially the same between a and b 2g. I don't think there should be a need for a different "write up". The trimming itself will require a bit more as the bumper will sit differently over the FMIC. Trimming a bumper to fit an FMIC is really easy. Just mount the FMIC and trim it to fit. I used a Dremel and a few different razor tools. It might take a bit of mounting and unmounting to get a perfect fit. Take your time and do it right to make sure it looks good.
