alright im having some weird problems with my 1g awd. Ive had a lot of alternator problems. Ive had to replace it like 5 times cause they keep dieing. But thats not the problem. ever since ive had the car, at random times while driving the power to the car shuts off and lose all power steering. but then i just restart the car and everything is fine. today it did it but wouldnt restart for about 15 minutes. the alternator is hooked up fine and nothing looks wrong. what could this be?

The die out problem could be related to the ECM. The leaky capaciter demon might have taken over your ECM. Pull it out of the console and pop the lid off. You will see the damage if any. My talon did that 2 years ago while my wife drove to Great Falls from here. She drove it back home and I met her with my trailer in Browning and took the running talon back on the trailer. Never did it again.... Next, what's with all the alternator burn out? Do you have a huge load on the system like a multi amp stereo? I have had only 1 go bad and it overchaqrged. Burned up the battery over time. My wife drove it then. BTW you got any snow ? Sucks over here in Kalispell. Tres....

well i know most of the alternator problems were from my power steering pump leaking on it. but i really have no idea why there going out. i dont have any load on it or anything. anyways i just pulled out the ECM and there is one capaciter that looks a little bit like its leaking under it. but its not super visible so not sure if its enough to mess up the car or what. and ya got some snow. about an inch right now
