My power steering is leaking on top of the pump where one of the lines connects. Seems like there is a washer between the pump and line. Anybody know how to fix it or had the same problem? Its leaking all over my alternator

I believe there is an o-ring under there (or supposed to be under there). I had one leak a long time ago and I just found an extra o-ring I had laying around that fit and never had any problems from it.

Nah dont feel like driving without it. Im.sure the leak is from there.

What should I do about the alternator...i know it got some power steering fluid on it

Just buy the kit from a dealer for a few bucks so you know you're getting the correct sizes and material to deal with the fluid. The part number is MR244546 and comes with all of the seals for the entire pump. As for the alternator...you really should tear it down and clean it. You're just not going to wash that fluid out of there with anything that won't cause problems from what's displacing the PS fluid.

ramsack has pointed out the right way to do it, but you could probably get away with matching one up at a local parts store. And as far as the alternator goes.... Spray some degreaser on there and wash off with some hot water if possible and see what happens. Your alternator might go out today, tomorrow, next month, next year... whatever, you get the idea. See what happens. If you have to go there (new alternator) when the time comes then you can worry about that.

Ok well i disconnected the line on top of the pump tgat was leaking and foubd no orings

Where should they go? Between the pump and the line? Between the line and the crushe washer? Between the crush and the nut?

My bet is the first two LOL

I don't think there should be any crush washers. The o-rings are on the stub that sticks out of the pump. They seal on the inside of the banjo-like fitting that is the line.

So one behind the line and one on top inbetween the nut and hose?

2 orings total?

Just wanna make it right
