Power Seat to Manual Seat bracket swap?

At the moment I have a broken power seat and would like to convert it to a manual to avoid this headache in the future, does anyone know if I rip out my power seat, will I be able to swap the brackets under it for a manual bracket?

All I can think is...why the hell would anyone bother with power seats...LOL they're completely pointless in my opinion.

Also, what work would this entail, if any, in regards to the wiring and etc.
 
I actually just did this 2 days ago on my 98 and I believe all 2g seats are identical, so yes it can be done. The whole process took maybe an hour and a half to do both seats (both my seats were screwed up by previous owner's shitty racing seats). On the downside since your seat is power it doesn't have a lever built in to let you move the seat back and forth. Not a problem for me, I just stuck my hand under the seat, moved it where I wanted it and I was gravy. If you want to be able to move it easily you could put a zip-tie on the lever or something, not pretty-looking, but it'll work.

Wiring-wise, well, there isn't any so long as you just swap the rails. In fact once the rails are swapped you just plug the connectors back in and all your original power functions (other than moving them back and forth) will still work. Unless of course yours don't work at all in the first place, then you're just SOL.

Pretty simple install really, unbolt the seats from your car (two nuts up front, two bolts in the rear) and pull them out, the rails/lower seat portion need to be separated a bit to be able to reach the bolts on the rails. The lower seat section has four bolts holding it to the bottom of the seat cushion, and the levers on the side need to be removed (just one screw and it pulls off). With those out you can pull the rails a little away from the seat to remove the bolts holing them in. One side has four small bolts, the other has 2. Swap them for your new manual rails, make sure they're even and latch properly, then re-install. That's really about it, have fun with seats that actually move! :thumb:

As a side note, I love power seats! Mostly because I'm a tall guy and the adjust-ability comes in handy for shoe-horning my tall ass into the car. My current manual swap is only temporary until I can find some nice power/leather 3000GT seats to swap in; with minor fabrication of course. :D
