you guys i just took my car to a shop and had a ton of work done on it.

I got my timing fixed completely, manifold helicoiled, oil leaks fixed, fluids replaced, new valve cover, gaskets, belts etc.

MY CAR HAS LOST MOST OF ITS POWER :banghead:

i noticed how it drives incredibly smooth now when cruising compared to before but when under boost i get the following:

Crackling / sputtering
backfire
no gained power compared to cruising

i basically have the acceleration power of a regular car at a red light when im trying to go fast LOL

anyways i havent performed a boost leak test yet but its coming in the mail, (i tightened all clamps) and i havent tuned the car since the timing has been fixed. Maybe it needs a new tune? just wondering if anyone has an idea what it might be, my guess is a bad boost leak

also i just today found that my bov is atmosphere vented by previous owner so ill fix that tomorrow but i doubt thats the source of my problems because it was alot faster before the shop.

It could, yes.. Only problem is you mentioned back firing which could mean a misfire or running rich. Some of the possible culprits are faulty fpr, faulty temp sensor or even the ecu. Have you performed a blt yet?

I have stock fpr vacuum is working and I'm still waiting on the BLtester to come in the mail

Ill update this thread once I have done it in case anyone with similar problems wants to know

Are you sure the shops reputable? If it was off by two teeth usually people end valves. This would make me think they would at least warn you before you did all the work to the car.. Sounds like perhaps they might have messed it up but if def pull the head and see what's up, as stated your pretty far belbow the servicelimit. Who knows, maybe your compression was fine pre-mechanic, they messed up did a compression check and told you the numbers again.. Just a theory. Possible?

when I am stationary I can rev the engine to 7k with no sputtering if that helps?
You jumped time- plain and simple by one or even two teeth on the belt. You'll get the revs up with no load on the motor, but put load on the motor and no power will be the results.

update: heres the wires the mechanic put on, they say : double silicone, ultimate heat protection, 7mm, MADE IN USA
I see a lot of cross-firing issues the way the wires are just laying on top of one another goin the same direction.

One wire fires and it could fire the next one just by induction alone. Put those wires in wire looms to get them separated with no.4 plug wire over the others with 3-2-1 lying next to each other in the looms in this order.

...tired coil can do power loss also along with a plugged fuel filter.

Alright so im back in business. I hooked up the correct firing order with new plugs / wires.

and guess what?

yeah Im back to 15 lbs of boost with no problem :rocks:

power loss issue : resolved
