I recently had a alternator go bad on and me and replaced it. After replacing it I was driving home from work and the car slowly died, the lights dimmed, the car barely ran and it died a block from my house where it was pushed home. The alt is literally 1 day old brand new, the battery is new but I'm going to pick it up from being charged after I'm done posting this. Looking around I found these two wires coming from the harness that goes to the alt. I have never noticed them before and I'm worried they were ripped out taking the old alt out. Here is a pic:

Does anybody know where or what these two go two ? Could this be the problem why I'm not holding charge ? They go into the bundle of the harness.

Please help ! Thanks.

Also I have a 6-bolt swap fyi.

I Bet they ripped the old one away. those wires look just like that. Sloppy job. Were the wires like that before?

Anyways. You can check your alternator easily with multimeter. just connect a multimeter to battery and rev and hold the engine to 1500-2000rpm. Multimeter should read above 13V at battery.

But the wiring itself... maybe they ripped the old one off and then reconnected the wires wrong?

Just take it back and tell them to fix it - but not to touch ANY OTHER wire. :notgood:

Ok I can clear some things up. I did the alt swap myself so if the wires were ripped out it was my fualt I take full blame LOL. I have noticed my oil gauge not working so it's deffinitly them, the other wire must be my oil pressure switch, what exactly does this do and where does it go ? I can live without the dummy gauge because I'll be buying a oil pres. gauge soon anyway.
