wastegate issue. whats wrong with this

My valve seat isnt fitting into my wastegate. te part number says i have a 38mm wastegate and i have a 38mm valve seat so it should fit right in but there is a gap between the valve and the seat. the valve seat hits the little lip inside the valve before it reaches the valve. is my valve too low? very confused. whats wrong and how do i fix it. or do i need a new wastegate. ive tried to take pictures of the gap with and without the valve seat. thanks

I'd like to say that when you actually bolt it down, the piston seals on that ring and the ring becomes flat with the surface as you tighten it. You might also want to clean the area with a wire brush before seating it.

This may be a silly question but is the valve and the seat from the same manufacturer?

Are you replacing the seat and if so, why?

The seat and valve can become coated with crap, and start to lose it's seal. The same way a valve in your cylinder can.

I guarantee you, it's not a Tial. The knock off have sealing issues all of the time. They aren't machine properly and a lot of times, the valve stems aren't totally straight.
