Power but no power

Ok so my car had been down for awhile because of a blown transmission and recently has been fixed. The car has been put together for about a month and just sitting in my driveway. It started and ran fine, no probablems what so ever.

Then today i get in and start it, let it run for about five minutes. I turn on my headlights and the car shuts off. No insturment lighting, sterio has no power, car wont start, gauges have no power. All power is off with the key in the ignition and in the on possistion. However, the ring that surrounds the lock cylinder lights up, my open door light on the dash comes on, and the lights on the mirrors come on. Im stumped. checked all the fuses inside and out, and the terminals on the battery (which is new)

I would check the ignition switch and ecu ... But thats just my .02 .Also check your grounds(first thing), if all relays are good and fuses, then these would be where i looked nxt. If the ecu doesnt have a burnt plasic smell then it might be ok (my 90 awd did that once and the ecu was fried).Hope it's quick and easy . Gl and happy tuning

i would invest in a test light/multimeter and work from the battery out to see where you lose your voltage.

Why didn't you tell me that was the problem you were having? Lol
I had the same problem in my 1G, ended up being a bad ground. Just start going through your harness and putting electrical tape on anything that doesn't look right too it should help.

I started with all the fuses again, tore apart the fuse box under the hood, it was a bad connection on the fuseable link. i dont understand why it didnt pop the fuse though. i found it when i tried turning my headlights on again, and could hear it shorting. Thanks for the help.
