Im making this thread to hopefully one day make it an archived transfercase reference.

Post up your 2g transfercase serial numbers Auto awd and manual awd

use this video to confirm the year of your case .

YouTube - 2G DSM Transmission Differences

Please no 1g transfercase numbers at this time

Also ad your year make and model of your car and the spline count of the t-case so i can extrapolate a good list of the numbers, the numbers in question are located by the imput shaft side of the t-case

the 2 i have are both early model 23 spline

numbers are :

4L15 A607
4E26 B607

Well okay, everyone is always asking what t-case do i have, or what case goes with what tranny with an accurate part number list as a reference those questions wont need to be asked anymore. With enough replies this should be figured out in a few days.

Also that is not true about the spline count just because it has 23 splines doesn't necessarily mean it has the right gear ratio.. what if you have an auto t case with 23 splines ? or a jdm one ? are you gonna throw that in your car ? the 95-99's had 2 different ratios here in America and from what i here 3 different spline counts , and who knows what they had in Japan.

I'm just trying to help out the community so people don't go blowing up there drivetraine

also im a little curious how many variations of the part numbers there actually are .

This is nice but I just want to clarify manual 91-96 tcases are all the same. 97-99 manual tcases are different and cannot be used on 96 or earlier. Mitsubishi changed the gearing ratio on the front to center differential. All tcases after 91 are 23 spline.

Basically it might help to have the 1g tcase numbers as well.

what about the Jdm transfercases did they have the same ratio ? i know the transmission didnt, 3.545 usdm, 3.9xx jdm evo/rvr

If so how do you know ? how to tell the difference between a jdm say rvr or evo t-case and a usdm DSM t-case ? i bet if you had a part number list you could tell .

after the 2g case numbers are all in, then we can start adding 1g case numbers it might get confusing to do both at the same time.

Evo III have the 3.9 rear diff.
Rvr have the same 3.545. The same as 2ga and 2gb rear diffs. All rear diffs are the same.

All "JDM" 97-99 transmissions and tcases you find from the importers are identical to 2gb transmissions and tcases. The are pulled out of RVRs with 4g63s

I currently run a rvr trans and tcase.

The only way to see if it will work is the turn method.

1g tcases might have the same numbers and we all know how hacked iodine of these cars are and people can have a 2g trans with 1g transfer case. Or they might be the same number.

so your running an rvr tranny and t-case thats interesting, i have a rvr tranny and tcase in the garage whats the number on the tranny? w5m33wmxl?

The two I owned (yep two) RVR transmissions are MMZL. 2gb are MUZT and 2ga are NPZT. All codes are for manuals.

Oh yeah, there were two levels of RVR. A SSG and a HSSG (Hyper SSG). The hyper is much more closely related to an evo 3 but very few were made.

Auto tcases won't even bolt up to a manual trans!

okay so if an rvr has final drive of 3.545 and the tranny i have isnt an rvr tranny where did it come from, w5m332wmxl.. also if its not compatiable why does the 23 spline t-case out put shaft spin 12 times before landing its mark .. ? it was bolted to the transmission when i got it for free from the importer.

Where is the serial number stamped on the transfer case? I just looked around and couldnt seem to find the serial number on it.

Will the serial be able to tell me if i have a 91-96 or 97-99 tcase? Is there anyway I can check this with the tcase on the car?

to see if you have a 91-96 T-case or a 97-99 T-case just watch the video it will tell you how to check, The serial number in question should be located by the imput shaft on top where it mounts to your transmission.

So there is no way I can check what transfer case I have with it still on the car?

No thats why i wanted to post up the serial numbers so that people could know without having to remove them. But no one wanted to particapate :notgood:
