Replaced the valve cover gasket. When My friend was tightening the battery terminal he touched the ratchet to the ecu and sparks shot out. Would this fry the ecu. If so would the car still be able to run after that?

Well one problem you may have is that your ECU is in the wrong spot. Its normally located under your dash center console. You may have popped a fuse or two, but they usually protect the ecu from any damage for use such occasions. Check your fuses first. I might be wrong and the n/t's have it in the engine bay

The 2g n/t are under the hood, in the engine bay!

LOL

Silliest thing I've read all day. Couldn't help myself.

It doesn't matter where the ECU is located, arcing the battery like that can (but doesn't always) cause damage to your ECU. I've done it a handful of times and luckily, I haven't fried anything yet.

But to the OP, just try starting your car up and taking a quick drive. No odd happenings, or codes spitting up at you...I think it's safe to say you're in the clear.

Yea, I feel noobish with the Non Turbos, Something new to know. So long as your lights, horn and all electrical things work and your car is not overheating or running rough you should be safe.

He's running a 2g 420A. those ecu's are under the hood on the driver's side. and does it still run ok?

Just took it out for a drive. Luckily, no codes or nothing. Thank for the help.
