Ok at first I blamed the fuel pump, any other sensor like the TPS, even thought i had bad gas but I finally tried to troubleshoot by datalogging for the codes for the CEL that's been on and surprise!!Invalid CODES cannot connect to ECU!. So no codes but one lil question?

DUDE did my ECU just take a dump?

When I turn my key to start it, it won't right away, the motor doen't even turn, then clicking noises coming from behind the stereo?

I just bought it thinking it was a steal but I guess its not. LOL

Car is a 1995 GST. I posted up my main problem before (twice) and I got limited help. LOL

Sounds like the ecu for sure bro.... look at the caps inside, and look for a white goo leaking onto the board. You may also notice a strange smell coming from the ecu..... kinda like seafood smell

Now when you say you hear clicking are you sure your not just hearing relays? Did you check to make sure you clutch safety switch hasn't failed which will not allow the car to even crank over. Happened to my laser unpluged the switch and it started right up. You could turn the key and hear some clicking from the switch and relays. You usually see early 1st gens that have computer issues.

i placed my hand on the ECU and when i turn the key and it doesn't start just clicks the ECU starts to vibrate and it does smell like burnt oil a little no smoke.....but once it starts and the coputer is warmed up t starts fine like normal after that...

Our ecus don't click or make noises usually they make piping noises which indicate it blowing caps or just frying in the process so if your ecu was fried it wouldn't start with those piping/exploding sounds... What your hearing is a module like stated or relay. Test it see if it's going bad...

My ecu was partially fried, it had cracks and a lil white stuff around the caps. It would start and run and will not go over 2k rpms at 20 mph, and will die or hesitate to hold idle when I TaP the gas pedal.

I'm running a 97 GST 5 speed ecu on my 95 auto all I had to do was switch wires and ran perfect fixed everything but not bogs alot and studders on WOT and under boost on any rpms...

so if smoke came from the center console and the car wonted crank would that be the ecu??

That depends. Have you pulled your ecu out and looked at it?

Check for spark and fuel first then. Get back to us after you've checked.
