Hey everyone.. this is an endless project trying to figure out why i have no spark on cylinders 1 and 4... i have a 7 bolt engine in there... So what i am wondering is.. is it possible for the crank sensor (the newer one behind the crank gear... not a cas) to give off spark to just one coil pack?
i replaced the coil packs and wires already. i am going to do the cas conversion as well i think... but i was stating to think this was the power transistor.

ideas?

Test the transistor and check the plug to the transistor, make sure all the male and female connections are intact and none of the male prongs are broken. It definitley sounds like it. I don't know about the 2g cas, I have the 1g cas on my 2g and I know that you wont get any spark if the cas is bad. If you already replaced the coils and wires, all there is left to check is the spark plugs and power transistor. good luck

The 1g cam sensor has 2 signals causing the car to not start, It has a trigger for cylinder number one then it has indivudual triggers for the other 4 cylinders. They used this sytem before obdII protocol was in place because a cam sensor cannot read accurate enough to detect a misfire which was a requirement for obdII computers.

As for the op, you either have an issue with the transistor or a coil more then likely, The 1 and 4 coil operates indepentantly of the 2 and 3 coil, so a failure of one of the coils would leave you with this problem. Or a transistor failing on one side can cause this. Of cource you could have a wiring issue or a pcm issue but those are more unlikely. Failures of the transistors and coils are fairly common.
