quick question, if my rings are bad would it be best to replace the pistons and rods with new forged parts. And if so whats the best parts to look for, you know the best bang for your buck kinda stuff i have a 2g with a 1g engine incase u wanted to know without looking the profile.

If you plan on keeping the car, modding it, upping the boost - go with forged. Wiseco is a popular choice. Keep in mind that it is likely you will need to go with a bigger bore pistons.

eagle rods.. wiseco pistons. it is always better to beef it up if you have the funds on a rebuild. can usually find a full bearing kit with that combo for about 7-800. look for a vendor willing to give you a good deal. i say MAPerformance could throw ya some great prices. You should give em a call.

see how your cylinder walls are when you tear it down. get the block decked. and if it needs it over bore the cylinders... (unless they are in really good condition then just get em honed. but if you have to overbore do that n hone the cylinders.. always wait until you figure that out b4 you buy your setup...

thanks i needed that piece of info about waiting to buy the pistons. just saved me a few hundred. now its just to find a good shop to do the job and not f*ck it up.:thumb:

no problem. some people learn the hard way.. LOL.. you have the benefit of not. :D

definitley find a very reputable shop in your area. make sure the crank is in good condition when you pull everything apart if it is, i would get it polished just to make sure it's all good. unless you were planning on trying to do it without removing the crank (not recommended *at least not by me). then just make sure the crank is in very good condition and doesn't show wear or anything.

yeah, of course it is gonna cost about 1200-1500 for the rebuild when you put all the little things in there along with the machine work. like all your gaskets and studs and all that. 4got to mention that.
