Hey guys, keep in mind I am still a newbie so please...be gentle

97 Eclipse GSX
Ebay Intake + K&N Filter (I installed)
MBC
1g BOV
3" Catback exhaust
Autometer Ultra lite Boost Gauge
AFR Narrowband gauge (Not hooked up)
Rest is stock

What I am looking into getting...

Small 16g Turbo
FMIC
190 Walbro Fuel Pump (Rewired)
Manifold (Unsure which yet, any suggestions would be nice)

This is a daily driver, and not quite ready to get into heavy tuning so I'd like a setup safe enough for daily driving but something that will put more umph into it without getting into any kind of fuel management systems yet.
So basically my question is, with this set up could I get some decent HP gains and also be safe and also not running any kind of fuel management?
Of course before I plan on making these upgrades I'm going to have a complete maintanence job done.
Or with this setup, will I have no gain because of no tuning?
Thanks ahead of time, I'll appreciate any feedback given!

You can port your stock 2g manifold and O2 housing, they will work fine. I would sell the narrowband gauge as it is as useless as the sensor that provides its info. Get a wideband to get the most out of your setup. I would get a 3" downpipe as well as a hp/no cat. I would recommend at least a set of 550/evo8 injectors for above 15psi. I would get some type of engine management, at least an safc/maft gen2 that run under $300 and can control up to 650cc. You will need a logger as well, Evoscan seems to be a cheap setup for 2gs(even 1gs)

Only thing narrowband is good for is telling you if your front o2 sensor is good or not. I would stick with stock hoses you don't need the braided stuff. Either than that, for a 16g your mani is more than sufficient and the 190 is a good way to go but if you plan on going any bigger I'd go 255 for more room to grow. Lastly, make sure you get something to tune your car as you will need it and get some bigger injectors (550s will suffice).

Yeah the narrowband will go and a wideband is in the future. I figured the stock hoses would be ok, but would the braided stuff hurt? It looks so much nicer and the hoses on mine could need replaced anyways.

I guess I'll be more specific with my question, basically I want to slowly and gradually turn this into a decent street car (1st Goal: 300HP). So if I get...lets say a small 16g turbo, FMIC, and a manifold, would it be ok to go ahead and install them while still driving it daily (About 10 miles a day) untill tuning is needed. I hear all the time that the small 16g turbos are ok with the car being completly stock and some people even use them as T25 replacements with no other mods. Then once I am ready and put on some bigger injectors, then get all the tuning done?

And is the 190 not effecient for a 300HP goal?

Thanks to all who have answered so far, it is much appreciated.

Honestly I would do it right the first time and get a 255 WITH an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator as once you feel the 16g you are going to want more power. The hoses don't need to be replaced really, that upper one you have marked on the picture will look like that once you get your FMIC, thats the Upper intercooler pipe. You are going to need an install kit with the 16g because the waterlines and oil lines are different than the T25 has.

yes you should be okay just installing that stuff. Its once you decide to turn the boost up, and fuel upgrades like injectors that its very important to tune. you should be able to get away with not tuning that stuff for awhile, although you should if possible.

Thanks for the advice, and yeah I know about the install kit.

Ok, so far I would have:

Small 16g Turbo
FMIC
255 Walbro
A/F Wideband
AFPR (Aeromotive or Fuel Lab)

would I be ok with this setup untill I get bigger fuel injectors and a dsmlink (which is what I plan on getting later). Or would I have to have bigger fuel injectors to begin with for this setup?

Thanks to all who have given their wisdom and knowledge, I appreciate it. :thumb:
