Possible blown turbo seals?

I'm having some major issues with blue smoke out of the tailpipe; mostly when coming to a stop after boosting and sometimes while just idling. It's hard to tell if its puffing smoke when cruising because I can't see the smoke, but getting stuck in stop-n-go traffic produces smoke screens. I also notice a good amount of oil on the compressor side.

So a little background info: it's an HTA 68 and it was installed on two motors: the stocker (which is now gone) and now a built motor.

With the stock motor it never produced smoke under any conditions; however, the motor exploded a rod while in the middle of a run.

The smoke problems started when I installed a lightly used built motor. The seller told me to expect a little more blowby than normal because the rings were gapped a little loose to handle higher boost levels.

So my question is, is it the motor that's responsible for the extra smoke or was the turbo damaged when the old motor blew?

There's no extra carbon on the plugs and compression is good across the board. PCV system is set up as stock with a known working valve. Turbo builds boost just fine and doesn't make any strange noises, also has no vertical shaft play and very minimal side to side.

You should have taken it apart and blew everything out with brake cleaner, and compressed air. On another note, i've noticed that td05 based turbo's make a ton of torque, at a very low rpm when pushed, on e85, or race gas. As a result, even the mighty 6-bolt rods can take a beating.

Ahaaha, funny you mention that because I was running E85 and wasn't even close to reaching redline when it gave out. It didn't just bend though, it exploded into tiny pieces and blew a hole through the block; found a chunk of the piston a couple hundred feet back. I still have no idea how a piece of the piston got out of that hole.

That is a pic of a rod out of an engine that put one through the block also. 2 were fine, one broke, and the other was almost there.
