Ok here's the long story. Right before I deployed to Afghanistan last March I had my dad come pic up my 91 eclipse gsx.... However, on his trip home the timing belt tensioner went out.... Destroying the engine. So I ordered a used 4g63 enginge and trans combo and converted it to a manual.
Ordered:
Megan coilovers
Enkie 17x8 rims
Braided steel clutchline
Braided steel brake lines
Converted the front end to the 92+
keydiver complete eeprom ecu
660 injectors
evo III 16g
evo III manifold and O2 housing
zetronics wideband O2 with egt
hallman evolution mbc
fmic
tial BOV
gm 3" maf (set up as a blow through)
aeromitve fpr setup
Hot wired walborro 255
ACT clutch
had the flywheel resurfaced and set to stock step specifications.
I'm sure I'm forgeting something on the mods list, but I think I got all the important stuff. However, once I got it all back together I had had to replace the dead battery a few fuses and the normal gremlins. I did all of this on my midtour leave....
Then the clutch wouldn't disengage once I finally got it started. By then my midtour leave was over, or else I would have pulled the trans and replaced the fork, pivot ball (the 2 things I didn't replace), and bleed the system again. Now when it was idling it was kicking a injector code, code 21 I think it's been a few months now. So, i decide I'll pay a reputable shop to fix it so it's ready when I get home.
It didn't make it to the shop until about a month after I went back to Afghanistan. My brother who had been going out on an everyfew day basis an cranking it over finally tells me it's not starting... The typical has fuel, spark, but no start. I say whatever I'll here what the shop has to say... After taking their sweet time with it I get an email saying it's not pulsing the injectors, and they want to send out the ECU to get it "repaired/checked" now. I've heard lots of good things on keydiver eeproms and ecu's so I seriously doubt he sent me a bad ECU.
So the research I've done here sounds like the injector resistor pack or CAS depending on whether or not the pack is sending power. I'm just trying to get some feedback on the issue before I blow up on the shop and tell them to shove their opinions I'll fix it myself for less than half when I get back becuase they are too stupid to be working on my car. Nothing like trying to tell the shop what's wrong over the phone and then looking like an idiot if I'm totally wrong. So, any additional information or advice would be very much appreciated so I can have the most informed and accurate arguement when I approach them.
Sucks trying to do this from Afghanistan.
