porting question

I've read the VFAQ and searched the forum for this answer but can't find it. The VFAQ say to throw the gaskets aways when you port your exhaust manifold and O2 housing. Is that right, will it still seal all the way?

Well you need to throw the OLD ones away and replace them with NEW ones.

Are you sure? Have you read the VFAQ? I read it over and over and it sounds like it's not needed anymore.

When you said replace with new ones did you mean bigger ones? If so then that makes sense. Any idea where I can get wsome new ones.

try running your exhaust parts with no gaskets.. you'll sound like a drugged-up nascar. haha.

REPLACE your old gaskets with new ones. gaskets are available at just about every vendor here, just go to their site and order. if you're new to this, make sure you GASKET MATCH your manifold to a 7cm [ you will need to specify when you order]. just line up the gasket on the manifold itself and port it out until they look the same.

make sure you make everything smooth too

You're definitely going to need new gaskets, especially if they have never been replaced before.

If you're going to port match the stock manifold/turbine inlet to a 7cm, be ready for a lot of work. There's a LOT of material to be removed just to get rid of the step on the manifold and turbine housing. Porting it out to match a 7cm gasket involves taking away a lot MORE material. Porting the manifold collector to 7cm isn't quite as bad as the turbine inlet since there's much less material to be removed. But doing just the manifold and not the turbine inlet is pointless.

Just something to think about, since I was also planning on porting everything to match a 7cm gasket... then I put the new gasket up against the collector and turbine inlet and saw all of the material that would have to be removed Regardless, have fun!

Hey thanks alot. I knew I wasn't crazy. I didn't see anyway you could run it without gaskets. Yeah it's going to be alot of work. I did the O2 housing today, it wasn't so bad.
