My new SCM61 is on the way and I plan on keeping it internally gated. I have a 3" downpipe and a full 3" catback with no cats. I know the 02 housing is going to be a restriction in my exhaust system. So, which is the better price/performance alternative? Should I just get my stock 02 housing and exhaust manifold ported, or is it really worth it to buy aftermarket pieces instead?

Here is a pic of my old stock O2 housing compared to my aftermarket one i bought with my exhaust.

maybe that can help you decide

Hey man,
You should port your exhaust manifold definitely. You should also go ahead and buy a new o2 housing. If you buy one that dumps to the atmosphere, you will make more top end power and get rock solid boost. Its loud, but only when your making boost, i personally think it sounds pretty bad azz. The other option is to buy an aftermarket o2 housing that dumps back into the exhaust/downpipe. It will flow alot better than stock, and it wont be as loud as the atmosphere dump. Now its up to you.................

It might be a problem depending on how many pounds of boost you will be running, you're going to have to bleed off some hella boost unless you will be running 20psi or more, you will DEFINITELY need an o2 dump either way (internal/external). Internal might be cheaper, but I think you should go external with that large of a turbo..........

Yeah man, you can buy a setup like that. Check out victoryperformance.com, they have some clean shiite. Its not cheap, but its a clean and mean setup for an external gate with dump, i wish I could afford it. You could also run an external gate off of the exhaust manifold, but then your stealing exhaust from just one cylinder and that doesnt sound right to me. I know it works but i'll never do it. But, for real, dont worry about being legal, its only a $2500 fine and a federal offense to run your car with no catalytic converter. I'd only worry if i lived in california, I use to live there, they have the right to pull over any car any time and pop the hood and inspect, and I've seen it happen........that friggin sucks
