I finally figured out the problem of the vibration, my cv joints and axels were shot on the left front and my tire was on the verge of falling off and also I found out the other day my heater/AC is messed up when I put the car to defrost tha AC automatically turns on and I have no idea why and you can't turn it off it's only off when it's on the 3 left settings of the dial regardless of if the snowflake button is pushed in or not, but the real question at hand is now I'm curious about port matching/p&p etc. I was wondering if anyone knew of a rough guess of how much it'd cost to get my head port matched to the gasket and better yet if anyone knows of a place that can do it in Bellingham??? thanks for the help, much appreciated.:dsm:

The A/C is supposed to come one with defrost. It defogs your windows much faster than heat does.

As far as port matching you'll just have to call your local shops since none of us likely own them.

Or find another DSMer in your area who can port match and ask them to teach you how. Just don't free ride and make them do all the work. It's annoying ;)

Yeah, I know it comes on with the defrost I think I just said it funny, the only thing I was saying is when you do that, it's supposed to be an option..if you turn to defrost and then the A/C comes on you should be able to turn it off if you'd like, mine however leaves you no choice. As far as the work goes, I've tried finding someone in this area before to help but that's a long shot so it looks like I'm going to have to make some phone calls I know you guys don't own shops I wasn't wanting like a quote down to the penny haha, I was just curious for those had it done, what ballpark was it in, $500, 1k? Just a rough guess.

Nope, you have no choice but to have the compressor turn on with defrost. My 97GST does the same thing. Turn the selector to defrost and the compressor will turn on. Pushing the AC button doesn't change anything.

Dang...I thought my car was screwed up. Someone graduated at the bottom of their engeneering class.

Just Defiant being his usual ironic and exuberant self.

"engeneering" should be engineering. Kind of funny when a layman is accusing the professional who helped design his car of being incompetent.

Which you probably knew but I thought I'd elaborate on for our original poster to blatantly expose said irony.

As far as the porting goes, I would search for some new DSM Tuners members in your area or go check out the Evo forums and find a local dude who might help. You have seven other members in your town alone, and over a thousand in your state. Both Tuners member I've met have been happy to meet another member and help out. That sense of community is a big part of why this site is so amazing. Go meet some people :)

I don't know about you but I like working on cars with new friends who can bi*** about the same car problems.

And worse in spleling.

I may be just as bad at spelling but at least I don't make it my profession and make road signs. haha :D

What I want from it, is at least 1 HP. Every little bit helps right? I only have your basic mods, Intake/Header/Exhaust/TB/new plugs/wires/etc. Not like that matter but as you can see nothing major, I just wanted to do this to get a bit more out of the engine, and maybe do cams and gears and such down the road, who knows.

Always good to see someone who can laugh at himself :thumb:

As an electrician I'm sure you make enough $ to buy the tools and do this job yourself if no one else will help. Why not get an air tool seetup? Always fun to have around a shop  :rocks: Basic porting isn't too tough and there are a ton of tutorials on it, including several on this site :thumb: I'm sure you are used to using power tools and building stuff.

You're right, I am used to working with power tools and building stuff but the money is where the problem is, LOL. I USE to be an electrician until I tore all the legiments in my ankle and couldn't walk and got fired. Now I'm just a stocker at the Office Depot in Mt. Vernon. I would try it myself but isn't it really easy to mess it up really bad with just a slight mistake.

Ouch, sucks to hear that man. You could always do a simple polish job with a Dremel and some sanding attachments. From various threads on this forum, just removing the casting imperfections makes a huge difference in air velocity. Or go get those price quotes from local shops ;)
