So back in the day, I did the half-ass sleepy eye mod on my 1g. They've been sitting at halfway up for about a year now. My buddy accidentally leaned on one of the headlights a couple weeks ago, and now I can't get it to stay in any sort of up position at all. If I use the manual knob, it moves up, then stops and falls back down. It seems as if the gears are all effed up and broken. Does anybody know of a fix for this? My buddy used to have a 94 firebird with pop-ups and he had the same problem. He wound up finding a fix kit online somewhere and we did it in like 10 minutes. If there's something out there like this for our cars, that would be great.

Does anybody have any suggestions on this? I'm really stumped for a solution. I hate coming out after work and having to manually pull my headlight back up to position. There's gotta be some kind of repair kit out there for us.........................

Did u see if the ball fell out of the joint thing???

bro, I appreciate your willingness to help, but your reply didn't honestly help at all. I have no idea what ball or joint thing your are talking about.

Ok, i would check the rod that goes to the headlights from the motor. check if it is damaged in anyway. otherwise i would look at replacing the motor. it could be screwed up.

When I started working on my car it had like a lazy eye halfway sleepy eye look going on. Drove me nuts. Plus I couldn't get one of the lights to go up at all manually, the previous owner simply cut, I repeat CUT!!! the turn signal to allow light to go through. So I looked and the lights have a rod with 2 ball joints. One on each end, facing in opposite directions. On the non-working light it was simply popped off of the light. Putting it on was proving to be more difficult than I imagined (likely hard enough to deter whoever went at this car with a die grinder to get thr motor mount out). So I used the closed end of a wrench against the fender for leverage and the ball popped right into the socket. I later went back and adjusted both lights so they sit flush with the fenders using the nuts on the rod. Hope I helped somewhat.

precisely, there is a rod that runs from the arm of the window motors to the frame of the whole flip assembley. When i did the lazy eye to my car i just pulled off the rods and they sit there just fine without being hooked up to the motor atll though so i'm not sure
