I fixed a minor boost leak on my car today and was in a 'trying to figure out what to do with the car' mood. This is considering im a poor college student with no money for additional hard parts for the car right now... :boring:

So i concluded on decieding to turn the boost up from the normal 15lbs creeping to 17psi daily, to a solid 19. Im currently tuned for 11.1 afr's and 19degs top timing adv.
( Mods in profile; but yes i have fmic and good fuel set up.)
Started thinking after I adjust some things in my eprom chip tune I figure hell, why not run 20-21 psi daily on my evo3; what would be the problem of doing this, ( of course im speaking as long as its a knock free tune thru all gears with minimum heatsoak and no other mechnical errors) its not like I floor it to see that kind of boost every where I go. But Im not sure if it will cause too much undue stress and/or wear and tear on my old 100,000+ mile 6bolt bottom end; as Im not trying to speed up its demise even though id like a little more kick on the streets as the evo3 can begin to bore at 17psi and under when youve had it so long. I know plenty run 21+ daily. On race gas this engine has seen almost 26psi, but daily it doesnt see much abuse as I like its reliability ( yes OMG its a reliable dsm so far after the regular headaches were fixed; luckily previous owner did most of the basic maintance..)...

Well anyways thats the jist of this thread, just want to see what some of you guys run daily as far as boost... Doesnt matter what turbo or set up. Also include a basic idea of your tune settings
such as air fuel ratio/ timing/ even relevant supporting mods.

:dsm:

Why is this always an issue? Crank up the boost and tune for no knock. If it knocks turn the boost down, simple.

33psi, pump 93 + meth...0 knock, 22*timing advance....car isnt the daily, but when its out on the street thats all she sees...

Yea, meth is REALLY looking tempting to me, right now.

Right now I run 0 psi daily, but then again, I drive an EM1 Civic for a daily driver.....
:| Don't give me that look, it's good on gas.

When I get the Talon peiced together, I am for 22-24 psi.

I run 28-30 psi on 91 octane + meth injection, 19* timing. Car hauls ASS, making at least 500 at the crank now. I've hit 56 lb/min on this setup...all in 91 octane!! I always run the same boost on the street, never touch my MBC. This is my only car and it takes me to school, work, etc yet I can beat just about anything at any kind of track, whether drag racing or road racing. That's why I love DSMs. :rocks:

At least you admit it's a Civic. A lot of guys say they have "EM1's" or EM2 so they dont have to say they own a civic. :D

ill second the civic statement

As for me, im running around 21psi daily with 93 and meth and at the track ill up it to around 26 with meth, No tune yet since i just changed my turbo setup through. Runs its ass off and gets me to class on time, thats for sure.

17psi on 93 octane. If I had a real intercooler (rather than the stock sidemount), I would probably aim for 20-21psi with my current turbo.

35 psi on my last setup, daily with 24 degrees peak timming advance (I was filling up with 110 leaded every other day for a while)... Looking for 40 on my new setup (E85)

:thumb:

No less than 24psi daily for the last 3 years...227,000km stock 7bolt :thumb:
WTF wow :rocks:

24- 27 psi.

26 psi with 3 gallons of E85 mixed in.

Thanks for all the post. Im getting convinced to go for the 21psi daily instead of
the 19 now. So far 19psi and 19 degs of timing adv w/ 11.1 afr doesnt knock, i hope i can squeeze 21psi out of it without dropping timing adv below 18 while keeping afrs the same ( pump and no meth.) Me and my friend have to reburn the eprom chip though everytime we want to change one minor thing, and this chip tuning has taken the car to 115mph traps at best in a very cost efficient manner, but this is were I draw the line and flat out say I wish i had dsmlink. LOL Before looking that direction though I need to get on some Fp cams first !

keep the post coming!

18g @ stock boost level, I'm just waiting for new injector seals to show up in the mail so I can install my 750cc's. Aeromotive AFPR kit and FPR gauge will be here at the same time.

Ay dont forget to put whether its on pump gas, race gas, using meth, E85, c16 and in addition list your timing adv and air fuel ratio also if you know it. Thanks; I wasnt trying to get too technical with specifics on the turbos or setups or hardware used for tuning, but it just makes this thread more informative to have that information also vs just the boost levels.

EVO III 16g, 22psi, 16 degrees advance, 79% IDC, 37lbs/min @ AFR of 10.2:1. Running 93 octane + 6gpm MeOH.

I just installed DSMLink and I'm not done yet, that's why the AFR is so rich.

Was your dyno results on your avatar with this tune? If so thats kind of low

Safe to say the majority of dsmers on this site run above 16psi daily :thumb:

What about a good afr. Tune to a good afr with no knock.

From the little bit of chip tuning ive done so far air fuel ratio seems to give the least gains in power so i keep it at a rich 11.1 which still gives some hp over stock afr but it allows more room for me to add more timing and boost than running 11.5 +. Im sure hardcore tuners could tune for 12.1s with a lot of boost and timing but I cant. General consensus appears to be boost adds the most power, then the correct timing adv, then afr and compression.
Id love if i could get 20 deg timing adv with 21psi daily w/ pump gas no meth and no knock.
