I didn't know where to put this thread so I just put it here in Tuning, but anyways here I go. I was planning to order a FMIC next week but after racing my friend decided that I should get other mods first. I just got my 3" downpipe on couple of days ago and ordered a walbro 190 fuel pump and dejontool dualstage mbc. Since the FMIC would've cost me 800 something bucks I spent 200 on the fuel pump and mbc, then I was debating about getting a new clutch but in the mean time I'll just put 350 or so away for that and then the rest on maybe a pda, data cable, and hotsync cable.

I did some looking around on digitaltuning.com, read a little about it. I was just wondering if it's worth getting with the mods I have, or is it more for the hardcore tuners. I wanna see if there is anything wrong with my car right now cause supposedly I shouldve beat my friend in his 1g GSX (n1 catback, k+n filter, free mods) and I raced him with everything on my mod list except for my downpipe from a 2nd gear roll (beat me by a car).

I dunno maybe I'm running lean? I'm running stock boost for now until I get my mbc then I'll keep two settings. I'll try replacing my fuel filter and check for any intake leaks but I'm at a loss right now because my car is probably as quick as it's supposed to be stock. Oh yeah speaking of lean, does the software have some air/fuel reading?

Thanks in advance.

it's well worth it, if you got a AFC to tune it with. Without AFC, you really can't adjust anything

I would rather get a wideband, or at least borrow one.. and tune by a/f thats how I do it, thats how my frineds with 11 and 9 sec Rx7s tune.. and it seems to work just fine.

One of my best purchases. Even if you don't tune your car it will help you to know just how much boost to run on your setup.

A/F with wideband is great but even with good A/F ratio, it can still knock and never know it. Plus, if you are not knocking, you can run the car leaner than 11:1 to make more power or add timing. It's best of my tuning tool that I got.

I run 11.6 for a while, then dropped it to 11.4 so i can hold out 4th gear all day and never pass more than 875C.

Im considering going with a haltech E6k, granted they are 1000bucks but now they have a simple adapter that makes it super plug and play AND you dont have to deal with all the goofy little quirks our ECUs seem to have..

If you have a choice between a wideband and a datalogger, and you can only buy one of the two, then a logger is going to be a much better tool.

A combination of the two is best, of course.

With light mods, the logger does not benefit you much. On the other hand, if you plan on modding more in the future, you might as well buy it now.
