I just installed a new PLX M300 wideband and I'm not getting any digital display whatsoever. I connected the power wire that came with it to the Accessory wire on my stereo and grounded the negative wire, but I did not get anything to ever display. I used a multimeter and was able to see around 11.8 volts with the ignition in the on position, but the wideband would never turn on. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Wow, is it a new WB?? Could be dead already, connect the wires power (red) to power wire on stereo and ground the black and check the ground wire see if its getting power. If it doesn't then the gauge itelf is breaking the circuit.

Why are you connecting your wideband to your stereo? You need an independent ground and power supply or you can get interference on your readings. Secondly 11.8 volts is just under the 12.0v required to make this power on. Try another power source I would bet this fixes your issue :aha:

If not the Stereo, then where else would you tap it in?? Create a new power soruce from the battery with a switch?? I'm soon going to install my WB too. :hmm:

I used the stereo accesory input because it was convienently located and accesible. It was only showing the 11.8 because my car was not running I was assuming. I hooked it straight up to a battery showing 12.7 volts and still had the same results.

I have been speaking with PLX Devices INC and they are having me ship the wideband to them to be inspected by thier technicians.

umm, yeah. Its okay to piggy back certain things from the stereo but I wouldnt recommend the wideband IF you want accurate readings. I believe in the instructions they usually recommend independent power source and ground.

I dont want to try to explain why, because it can be confusing. Just know that certain gauge wire is made to run certain voltage load with a certain amp rating. If you run it from the stero then it can draw more voltage and cause issues with the way its intended to function.

Best example, try replaceing the positive batter cable on your car with something smaller, like possible 14 gauge wire and see if the car starts. That is overexaggerated, but the quickest scenario I could come up with.

Unless the wideband you buy has a voltage threshold of 11.5v-14.8v I wouldnt risk stealing power from the radio source or shortcutting the way it is installed.
