Please help shut down while driving...

I was working on my 1g tonight (put in new plugs) Background: the car sat for a little under 2 years before i got it (for free) since having it i've installed a clutch, new battery, and now new plugs (NGK's) put fresh gas into it... well after doing the plugs i took it out for a drive, it was pre igniting with the old plugs, the new plugs cleared this problem out and it was running like a top... i was shifting from 2nd to 3rd when the rpm's instantly cut out... it cranks good the t-belt is intact what the heck could be wrong... the car instantly shut off i had power everything... please help!!

is it cranking/turning at all now? You got power? The car sat 2 years, could be number of things, from clogged up fuel filter/bad fuel pump to bad ignition coil and everything in between. Star with the basic and obvious ( check for fuel, spark) and start eliminating problems.
