i was driving down the road during heavy acceleration (legally) and my car died. completely turned off. when i slowed down to about 10 mph i popped the clutch and it started right back up and runs fine. i have one vacuum leak going from the mani to the bov, could this be the problem? any advice would be appreciated. thanks

There are plenty of things that would cause your car to die while driving or idling. To go back to the basics, start with the basics. Do your boost leak, compression, and leakdown tests. If they come back fine, start looking into your ignition (plugs, wires, coil, and resistor) system. Then move to your fuel. Is your fuel filter new? is your fuel pump rewired correctly, etc.

Sometimes its just something stupid and will go away. However, that's obviously a bandaid, but figure out why you died in the first place and fix it!.

basics have already been checked. none of those problems, minus the possibility of the one vac. leak going from the mani to bov.
compression - new engine - ok
boost leak test 2 weeks ago - ok
plugs/wires - ok
fuel filter is relatively new - ok

thank you. more ideas?

Yeah, the one time that i disconnected my bov tube to see what it sounds like, under slow acceleration, the rpms would drop pretty low when i let off the gas, but when i accelerated fast and then let off, my car did shut off. i'm just guessing because the computer thinks that it is getting that big woosh of air back in that it just stalls out, so basically replace the bad hose.

My car died a couple of times when the bov to intake tube popped off accidently. So it's probably bov related.

i replaced the hose and am still having the same problem. any more ideas?

I had a problem before somewhat like yours and it ended up being my Alternator......i dont know if that helps.

i had the same problem yesturday. I think mine is some how electroncis related, i checked my bov, its fine. My battery has also dieded, so i think it is that my alternator is not charging the battery or there is a huge drian on my eletronics. I am getting it checked out. i don't mean to steal your thread but if any can help me out with some advice that would be great. After i get it checked out i will let you guys know what is up.
Thanks
Brian

I would take a look into either getting the alternator tested, and check to see if your crank sensor is still working. When I had my Avenger the car died in the road while driving and wouldn't start for alittle while. Ended up being the crank sensor. My GSX was the alternator.
