cant wait to see how things work out...ill be putting mine on here in a couple months if i can sell this built 7-bolt 4g64. the wastegate just showed up, and i put everything together just to test fit, and for pictures. comes out to be about 35 lbs on a household scale, so i'd imagine more once all the weight is on a full surface. here's some pics of how things look

Im back and insurance bs is over with iee been very busy working for mickel blackwell of BRE motyoro sports building motors and tending to his pro 4 car so i havent had much time. But as it stands the only problematic area of this entire kit is the manifold stemming from the wastegate area ive had to weld iot back on once and pretty much once it cracks once it cracks for ever and ever. so i recomend geting a cast iron manifold that is high flow or ported. spend the extra cash there in that area.you can get one for 250 i believe but i havent found one for a 4 bolt hks flange yet just the 2 bolts.

Hey guys sorry its been a while since i got onhere and posted updates. so ill give you a short one. right now Im at the dilema of mounting the waste gate. the 46mm is just too big to fit in the engine bay unless i out it in backwards wich i dont want to do because the waste would have to fight exhuast pressure just to open up. .... or I will abandon powersteering totally which it looks like im going to do. it took me a minute to get this far because of college and of course the fact that i needed something to drive in the mean time. so i fixed my conquest and rebuilt that first now i got the eclipse in pieces in my garage. Im working diligently at the moment and ill have picks really soon as soon as sunday for what i have done so far. I do have a few questions on the waste gat installation. Like for instance. if you referr back to the pictures in this post of the waste gate. Can i get away with installing the waste gate so that it sits vertically versus horizontally. AKA backwards would it still open up? or would it lock its self shut from the exhuast pressure. I know its a valve and all essentially but my major concern is the piston fighting the exhuast pressure pleas some in put so i need a cheap solution. brokein college. So its either drop power steering orinstall waste gate backwards. Im leaning my self towards droping power steering.

hi
i had the same clearence issues with the wastegate this is what i did;
with the kit there are a couple of extra flanges i took a 90 degree bend in the same size of the flanges cut it in halve and weld the flanges on the 45 degree bend
then mounted the w/g its a tight fit but you can make it work and still have p/s
i added some picks.:thumb:

i am going to add to this one...last year i did basically the same thing with buying there stuff...here were my results summed up

There manifold was total shit, the wastegate flange where they had welded was just filled with weld, not grinded down or anything...it basically blew up a integra because of that, it had some terrible boost creep. Also the flanges and pipes are extremly small in my opinion.

There turbo seemed to be ok, still using it with no real problem

Wastegate had a few problems with it, Tial and HKS fittings and internals DO NOT fit into the knockoff gates.

That was about it, basically all i found to not be crap was the turbo and there bov...which was scraped after the teg blew up

TERBOLASER, thanks a lot for the writeup! It's really sad your car got crunched, for you and us both. I know how it is trying to deal with insurance stuff (how is it that the "value" of the car is always less than how much you can buy/sell one for?). And now we won't know the long-term results of your setup.

But even the short term results were informative. I'm glad no one bothered trying to crap the thread with non-information (personal feelings, etc) and that you posted lots of pics. I've heard nothing but bad about their manifolds, but it's good to see that some of the other pieces may be worth it for us cheapos. I also like your testing methods; run the crap out of it and see if it breaks. Seems like a good real-world test.

Let us know if you get another chasis to work on with this setup, otherwise just kudos and thanks again.

hey yall im not done yet just slowed down it was just a chasis problem if tyou ask m e. 300 bux and im in a new laser rs-t my favorite model of all dsms.

All is fine and still running with the exception of the xs manifolds they are about as good as a 20lb paper weight or wheel stop( what i use mine for now) right now.... Im working with the famous deseil geek scott clark of spectre performance from california. I had the pleasure of running into him in Atlantam, Georgia at Nopi Nationals. he is going to help me out with my stand alone system the MS1n Spark ( megasquirt) so im gunna be able to run more boost and finally put don some dyno sheet for yall on what the kit can really produce in the next coming month or so.

so Ill get back to posting pictures as my friend have lent me another camera and im gettin less busy now withthe Nopi NDRA pro season coming to a end in october norwalk ohio for the finals

I gotta finish what i started thank to all those contributing to the thread and thanks for subscribing. hang in there yall

A 90 Laser, nice. I hear they tend to run slightly faster than the other FWD DSM's :) The sleeper look is always a plus :thumb:

LOL yeah its funnycuz i had one as my firs t dsm and i was told that also that laser run faster then other fwd dsms yeah my stock one never hit fuel cut andf i could run retarded boost allt he way to redline. like 28lbs

any 2gs owners have problems with the FMIC kit? i got mine sitting here next to me on the floor but was told to hold off on putting it on cause of my current setup with the 14b and possibly not being able to fill the IC up? ? any ideas

my car is running temporarily on a t25 on the core in the picture and the longest route piping i have ever seen. I cant even tell. Put it on, you wont even notice the volume of the intercooler. At least i didnt, even as soon as i switched. I have a 14b in my room im putting on sometime soon, and im going to use it with the intercooler.

get a J-pipe thats all you should need well at least with a 14b . to connec tthe turbo to your lower IC pipe and comment on the long route i prefer long rout piping so long as its aluminum piping for heat dissipation purposes.long route piping equals more surface area for cooling down side greater volume to fill.

the piping is short route. i should be finished tomorrow i hope with the install.

missing a coupler, 2 tbolt clamps, and bolts to mount the IC to the car. other than that not to bad. taking me forever since its my first time. haha

Mine took me 1 and a half days. Of course i just got a johnny racecar core and then some ebay piping with bends and couplers. Basically i just started making mounting brackets sawzalling piping, sawzalling bumper support and dremeling the front bumper from the top of my head. It came together though lacking any good organization or planning.. something i cant say i acheive often.

ive got a 14b on my 2g with ss.fmic kit. no problems here! lag is barley noticable!

i really am kinda stuck til tonite when my friend gets over here. he did this IC setup on his car. but im running 14b and where the Jpipe is it has almost no room between that motor mount and where the WG is to fit a pipe or 90* coupler thats 2"... any ideas?

******* never mine what i posted here********

this is the problem once getting the 90* coupler on the jpipe... it doesnt reach

ifit doesnt reach why dontyou get a longer pipe? Im not being a dick but that look like your problem from the pic. ive done fmic setups with 14bs alot and i never had an issue getting the piping done. even with no j-pipe( like the classic one that every one buys.) i mean using flull piping all the way to the stock 14b inlet and with pipe bends.

i got everything together, except for i have a huge leak someplace i think the 2" 90* coupler i got is lil to big for the Jpipe i have so might have to get/make a 2" jpipe to match the coupler LOL. i know thats a big leak i have. when tomorrow comes around i should be able to start the gsx and keep it running.. LOL.

my cars still coming along built a new motor and the car is running on full standalone courtesy of megasquirt. should be up and running with in the week. just sent the standalone for testing by scott clark at spectre performance

Any updates on this extensive review? I believe I'll at least nab an ebay fmic kit due to this. How is the turbo still holding up?

p.s. Many thanks for creating an actual time tested review. :thumb:

okay thing are bit of a blure getting ready for japan so ive had the car up for 2 months on the megasquirt stand alone and things are going fine with everything except the manifold. car is down for routine maintenance and garage preparations for storage. my only reservations are the manifolds being shotty as hell its like a freebee that comes with the kit.

sad to say i have another on the car as a free give away part for the trip home to VA. thats if i get the megasquirt to act properly in time. loast spark and fuel totally sigh. but it was running hella good on the dyno even though it wa cutting up with my tuning at 6500. it has power potential just not with there manifolds.
