but wankel guy has a point, alot of folks (like me in hot ass texas) need a core that has good flowthrough, i bought a Fluidyne of course but still.. its nice to have a FMIC that lets the radiator breathe.. i dont have any probs after the fluidyne but an Apexi or HKS core would fit me better, since i like the road racing more too.. or even zipping around country twisties.. cant sustain that crap without some good cooling

Okay first off my tranz was built by bm tranz. The first time it blew she was just making a noise that resembled a throught bearing when I went to replace ,my bellhousing was coverd in oil. Second time was on my way home from the track I heard a loud pop and I was pouring tranz fluid like it was cool! Bm said that I sheared the pin f-that. I did solve the problem I'm all wheel and running a shep tranz. Hey any you guys wanna buy my old front wheel tranz? Id say don't be stupid spend once.;)

I just read up on the Phantom Insert and decided to do a search to see whats up. Damn if I expected to find all this controversy. I had to read through it all but I think I'll try that BM unit now. Thanks Wobble.

I quit reading the arguments after page 1, but for what it's worth, I've only had positive experiences with the phantom grip. There are stiffer springs available to increase lockup, too.

I've also noticed that the only people who talk crap about it are ones who have not used it. People who have it, love it.

Yeah, thats seems to be how it goes... werd

I just bought the B&M insert, but haven't installed it yet. The only complaints I've heard is that the plates eventually wear out and you are left with a stock acting diff. I'll post on here after a few months of beating on it to share my thoughts/results.

Any idea on how long they usually last before they crap out? Keep us posted after the install bro.

I guessing it all depends on your driving style. If you hit the track a few times it'll probably last longer then if you autoX every weekend. I hope to have mine installed within the next month or so, I'm tired of not being able to use 1st and 2nd gear on try pavement.

Any more VALID updates on this. For instance is A B&M any more desirable then a Phantom? I had wanted a Quaife, but someone whom I consider has a lot of experience said I could get just what I wanted out of a insert (B&M) and that a Quaife would be overkill.

RX-7 guy says
Another thing, maybe Wobble can save the extra 800 for something in the future, you know, engine, coughcrankwalkcough, LOL....that's it for me now

Ha ha pretty funny, talk about pot and kettle. A Wankel guy bagging on someone else's engine durability?

Well ive had my phantom for 2 years now, no probs yet.. still lights up both tires in the water box insted of one. no probs yet

Hahaha I forgot about this thread... Just in case anyone was wondering traction is becoming more of an issue for me now but more power is getting put to the ground...

I can't tell from your profile, what turbo are you running that is giving you traction problems with a Quaife?

I am still on the t-25, along with winter tires and no suspension work but I was still able to pull 2.2 60ft times all day at the track on Saturday. Once I switch out to my bigger turbo, and utilize the dual stage boost controller along with my dsm-link I am hoping to control traction a little better.

1.9-2.0 60ft times all day with better tires...

Corey-

believe it or not, your 60ft times will get worse with a bigger turbo.. the t-25 insta-spool makes it alot easier to launch. I went from a t25 to a hogged out 16g at 22psi and i LOST 2 tenths in my 60ft..

it can be overcome.. you gotta REALLY practice.. because you will be going from NO power to LOTs of power suddenly, not a gentle curve like the t25.. its a PITA to get good at it.. but youll be alot faster regardless..

as for traction probs.. any FWD quafe or not without slicks or some beefy ass drags is gonna have problems.. shit, on 225s on the street i can roast the tires in 2nd gear at 50mph just by mashing the gas.. will spin all the way til i shift.. then bark 3rd..

its just something you have to learn to live with..

Well my new turbo is the SBR g60-1, and with the nice option on dsmlink I have a studder box, which lets me build boost and launch a hell of a lot better... so trust me I will report back and let you guys know.

Corey-

ummm, you studder box a FWD your just gonna sit there.. well, maby if you used 10" slicks ya wont... but a studder box launch on FWD is not a good idea..

We will never see eye to eye on anything... lets put our time slips side by side ... :thumb:

Corey

yea.. you have a t25 and i have a 16g.. how would i know what its like launching with a bigger turbo:confused:

actually, i see lots of folks launching their FWDs without slicks with a studder box.. its a commin sight.. no wait.. no i dont.. because its stupid. 4 second 60ft here you come:thumb:

but what do i know.. i dont have a mad powah t25!

in all seriousness... its hard as shit to feather it and not spin like crazy.. and your gonna use a studder box and launch on boost.. your retarded.. no really.. you are retarded... not being rude but thats the only logical conclusion..

So, my EVO3 B16G is going in tomorrow. I imagine that even with my suspension mods, urethane motor mount inserts I'm going to be roasting my 225 Falkens. However, would not a AVC-R be a wise investment? Anybody have any experience using one to limit boost pressure in lower gears? Perhaps that will tie me over until I can afford a Quaife.

ive never had an AVC-R so i cant give any first hand on it.. but ive had 2 friends with them and both said they were over the top.. way too many settings and way to hard to nail down perfect.. I think a profec B with the little switchy thingy ya put on the steering wheel would work pretty good.. set a low.. like 10 psi then yer regular or high boost nad launch on the 10 and when ya hit 2nd switch to high.. seems like would be a good system, havent tried it myself though..

instelled it as it came to me, no stiffer springs or anything.. if I ever have to take it out (get a new tranny or something) i might put in stiffer ones.. but I wouldent say i need them as far as i can tell..
