I'm having trouble getting my PCV valve to screw in. The old one won't go back in either, even though I just took it out. I did turn it about 1/4 turn tighter before unscrewing it. Is it possible I stripped things that easily? (didn't have to turn very hard) I wouldn't ask this early in the game, but I have to work in an hour. Is there a trick to screwing it in that I'm unaware of?

The PCV does not screw in perfectly horizontal. Rather, it screws in at a bit on an angle. Not a left or right angle, but when screwing it in, the rear (non threaded) end needs to be lower then the threaded end. Just a tip. If you get it to start threading in with it horizontal, you may break the valve cover to to cross threading.

I must have had bad luck. I tried it that way before with no luck. I went back out and tried it just now, worked great. Thanks!

Yeah, tilted down a few degrees. I put the original hose on it and it held it at that angle for me to screw in.

Huh... I don't understand why you had so much trouble. I'm a total noob when it comes to cars, I had never replaced anything on a car myself except for an intake and oil/filter before and I replaced the PCV valve myself without any trouble. Except for banging my finger around cause there is hardly any room there to actually take the hose off.

I don't see why you want to try and bash this guy. :notgood:

Everyone runs into problems some times whether it be as easy as a pcv valve or as advance as piston to wall gaps, etc. Maybe his threads were messed up and it was causing him trouble.

Just because you didn't have trouble w/ your pcv valve doesn't give you the right to bash him because he did. Shit, I have had trouble w/ my pcv valve going in, but no one bashed me for it.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to bash anyone... I was just wondering why he had so much trouble... like if it was stripped or something.

After I posted I realized it could be taken that way but I did not mean it that way :)

I think the threads were a little beat. I saw a couple small stips of aluminum come off with the original PCV. I spent ten minutes trying to screw it in from every angle with both the new and old. Just thought I might be missing something obvious or have screwed something up.

Fortunately I've had that hose off half a dozen times while cleaning injectors, replacing seals, etc... so it slid off easily.

On an amusing note, the guy at Carquest actually blurted out loudly "What the HELL does that fit?!?!" when I took it out of the box to test it. It's kind of a strange PCV. ROFL
