PCV/Valve Cover Problem

see if you guys can help me...

everything is hooked up in my PCV system, except for the line going into the back left portion of the valve cover...i cannot connect the metal hose attachment to the vc because the threads are horribly mangled...i'm idling high (1000-1500) and I want to know if I'm ruining my engine have it like this for any amount of time...

ps-a new vc is on the way from eBay :talon:
 
no..just make sure the intake manifold is capped off where the hose goes too.
 
shit, wait...

the tube is already going into the intake mani...it's just not connected to the valve cover and I can't attach it and screw it in...so should I plug the hose that would normally connect to the valve cover...it has vacuum
 
oil comes out of the breather outlet and the pcv outlet. so if u dont plug those bad boys or re rout them to the ground they will leak everywhere. I think you are saying that the threads for the PCV valve are destroyed ont he valve cover? so u cant get hte pcv valve in? if thats the case...u could probably redril the threads....but if u have a new cover on the way. id try doing a temporary plug on the spot and drive as little as possible until a new valve cover came in.
 
you guys are crazy tellin this kid to plug up the valve cover holes. they are there to releive pressure from inside the motor! lets just tell him to blow out some seals. damn...this is wat u wanna do AKain..just plug the nipple off on the intake manifold so u dont have a massive boost leak, run the valve over breather hose down behind the tranny and try and get a fitting that screws into the pcv port on the valve cover, im sure u can get one to thread in there, then run a hose off of that to behind ur tranny where it wont make much of a mess. if u dont liek the fact that it will get oily, just run the hoses to a catch can.
 
just put some electric tape around it so nothing gets around the pcv valve i did that for a little while before i got a new valve cover
 
not a lot of oil everywhere, actually none...

the oil in there has 200 miles on it and it's topped off, but still no wild and crazy oil everywhere...

i'm just gonna tuff it out and baby it until I get a new VC...

but anyways, am I gonna get any permanent damage?
 
I think you want to run your pcv as it was designed to be used.
I think what you are saying is the valve won't stay screwed into the valve cover because the threads are stripped inside the valve cover
I would mix up some epoxy & coat the threads with it, screw it in & let the epoxy harden over-night.
On my valve cover, one third of the entire threaded part on the valve cover actually cracked & seperated--this is what happens when you overtighten it.
I bonded it back together with 15 months & 8,000 miles ago--no problem--looks like it shoul hold forever. I used offbeat epoxy, can't recall the name--but similar to J&B Weld or Liquid Weld, every auto parts shop has something that will work.
In your case, threaded sleeves that are made for just this purpose might also work, if you can find the right size at your auto-parts place.
