I know that on 1G's the fitting for the hose for the PCV is threaded into the intake manifold, and that the thread is the same size as the PCV. I was wondering if anyone has ever swapped them, ie. thread the PCV onto the intake manifold and put the straight fitting on the valve cover. I was thinking that this way you could put a fuel filter in line and help keep the intake manifold clean.

I guess you could do this with the stock setup, but didn't know if the pressure coming off of the intake mani under boost would burst or otherwise damage the filter since it's before the PCV.
 
Well, given that the one-way valve would be reversed if you did this....

The straight fitting will thread into the valve cover, though. That's what I used when I took out my PCV valve. Just get another straight fitting like that one and cap off the intake manifold, then run a hose from the valve cover fitting down toward the ground, or better yet, to a catch can.
 
the fitting on the intake manifold for the brake booster will fit on the pcv hole on teh valve cover. and just put a nipple on teh pcv hose on the intake manifold
 
sorry for the dumb question, but i have always wondered what exactly is the pcv valve? i know that it leads to the fitting on the valve cover where the hose is to the intake pipe. With that i just took the hose off and put a breather filter on there, I heard that was a bad idea is that true? they say that oil will leak out if u do that, but mine hasnt leaked any oil and still flows really good (i take it out every once in a while and blow on it to make sure oil hasnt clogged up the filter pat).

I'm just curious where exactly is the VALVE? and isnt that to release pressure in the crankcase? so does it have like a hose leading from the crankcase to the top of the valve cover or something how come the fitting is on the valve cover? also this guy told me that u can gain some horsepower by getting an aftermarket vacuum controller. Basically he explained it as a thing to always maintain vacuum inside the crankcase to eliminate blowby. I thought that all turbo cars has blowby and thats what the pcv valve is, to eliminate it. Have u guys ever heard of something like that? thx
 
well from my knowledge of cars this is what I know correct me if im work

the valve cover is two holes
1 is pcv
2 is crank case ventilation.


the crank case usually goes to the intake pipe before the turbo on our dsms and the pcv valve in all cars go to the intake manifold.


i have my crank case vent going to the atmosphere because its dirty air that will go in ur intake route which will dirty up ur ic.

the pcv i took a fitting from the intake manifold going to the brake booster its a straight fitting and it fits the pcv location and thats atmospheric. i need a catch can(pepsi bottle)


the thing with the pcv is it sucks out crank case pressure when there is vacume thats great makes alot of sense in normal cars.it opens when theres vacume thats what the little plate does inside the pcv but in turbo cars it will do the same during vacume (cruise,idle etc) but at boost it seems it wont open and thats when u would have more crank case pressure if it does not come out there its gonna pop the dipstick or start blowing gaskets.

there is something with vacume how it gives u better performacne i know moroso has a "vacume pump" it looks like an alternator and it creates more vacume id ont know much about it.
