I did a AWD swap on my 98 eclipse convertable and I am having a serious issue with my pas side axle. I had to purchase 2 new front axles because on the donor car they were trash. The drivers side went perfect but on the pass side it seems the axle is about a inch too short. I went to the big three autoparts store and verified that the stock axle replacment is 24 3/4" long. The 2 axles I tried both mesured this. I thought maybe my lower control arm may be bent so I replaced but it didnt solve the issue. I went ahead and purchased a manual trans axle for a 98 awd auto (1/2" longer) . Both axles have the same spline count but when I tried to install it in the trans it didnt fit (just a tad to big). I then had the bright idea to just swap the transmission side cups from the manual to auto since the auto axle cup fits but apparantly the joints are alittle bigger on the standard that it would fit inside the auto axle cup. I am really in a situation that I dont know what to do. I even verified the mounts are on correctly and tightened. any suggestions welcomed...
