Hey everyone,

Just letting everyone know my car just passed CA star smog with web 546/547 cams. The car idled at about 1100 and the guy told me he didn't even want to do it because he said it's missing LOL, it was not missing, it's called idling.

Anyhow the car was a 1990 plymouth laser fwd turbo I just purchased for 1400 with 086457 on the odometer and clean ca title. It needs a lot of cosmetic work (no dents, just visual). When I was there and they popped the hood I noticed a manifold bolt all the way out. The other three you can turn by hand, and there was a exhaust a manifold leak and it still passed.

Just trying to share my experience with you all and hopefully give some hope to others. Car other then cams, turbo timer, and boost gauge is bone stock.

Good tune, or good cat. :p Very nice.
What did the guy say after it passed? LOL

When I got it it had severe exhaust leak and idle surge between 1500-2000 no matter what. It had two broke studs on passanger side leaking horrible and a loose stud farthest to the driver side leaking bad too. It had a strait pipe welded on and I purchased a used eclipse cat off a 95. Pulled the entire exhaust in one piece, gut the pipe out and tig welded the cat in. They wouldn't even test it because these dang laws about the right cat for the year and make of the car.

Got a universal maganflow ca compliant, didn't work either. Yesterday paid 300 and got a new catco welded on. Changed the exhaust manifold gasket and was only able to fix one broke stud. Also had to reuse the turbo gasket. Changed valve cover gasket (mostly to verify it had the web cams), new msd wires, new plugs and adjust ade the idle via grounding the right connectors and turning the BISS. Got it to idle at 1100 perfect and took it thus morning. It passed!!!!!

He mumbled it passed LOL, I almost hugged the dude. I tried to play with my wife and say It didn't pass, but I couldn't even hold down my excitement for 10sec. Now I'm going to swap over my hx40 set up from my 95 gsT drag car and see what I can do.

Anyhow, I hope this helps someone in ca with passing there smog. Oh I also used this stuff off the shelf at autozone, I forget the name but it says guaranteed to pass or double your money back. I have no idea how much this played a role if any at all.
