What parts will I need to buy when doing a head gasket change? Do I need new bolts, etc?

I recommend buying some ARP headstuds, and a top end gasket kit, along with your needed fluids etc.

I re-use the bolts without any problems. I just check to see if they have any signs of stretching. BUT, they are awful cheap, so if in doubt buy a set.

Other than that, you can cover all your bases by simply buying a Felpro headgasket set. No need for Arps or Cometic or anything. I have used felpro on my 12.5 NA. BUT (another BUT ) be sure to machine your head and that your block is flat.

Of course, if you are due for timing belt change, get the timing belt components (including water pump, if you are so inclined)

You could also look into buying a set of 2.4 lifters and rockers. They make the head a whole lot quieter by a better oiling design.

Where can I buy all that stuff on a budget? What year and make of car are the 2.4 lifters and rockers off of?

You can get it from ModernPerformance, they have the 2.4 lifters and all, the only reason I say go with the ARP hardware is just because they are cheap and oem bolts are torque to yeild(I know you can reuse them though if there are no signs of stretching, but I don't like too) where you can reuse the ARP's and some blocks where miss drilled so you have to file down the oem bolt (SOMETIMES, not all the time).
