Parts Dinosaur Timing Packages?

Never used them; however, I will give an opinion......

To me, the timing components are one of the most important components in the motor, if not the number 1 most important. Let's face it, if they go, the head and possibly motor is junk. For that reason alone I will only purchase Mitsubishi timing parts and nothing else (may cost more, but I don't worry about it breaking, ever). Corners can be cut in a lot of areas, but not there.

I added up the cost of all the items included in the PD package and from Mitsubishi it came up to almost $500. People have used non-Mitsubishi belts with no problems at all. I know how important the timing components are which is why I'm looking to do the job even way before I need to. I've read nothing but good reviews from 2GNT people, I just need more 4g63 guys to chime in. I'm sure a lot of people will jump in and say "get these parts from the dealership only" but this thread is not about that.

I bought from Mitsu dealership, they sent me an AISIN water pump. 17k miles later the water pump bearing started going south.

I gave dinosaur a shot and have about 2-3k on it with no complaints. Everything fit just fine and I saved my self ~$100.

I have a full Parts Dinosaur timing belt kit on my 1G 7-bolt. It included a timing belt, balance shaft belt, auto tensioner, tensioner bearing, timing belt idler bearing, balance shaft idler bearing, water pump, and all accessory belts. It cost me about $275 shipped to my doorstep and it's been awesome for the last 6000 miles!

I am sure the waterpump and auto tensioners are the same used as oem. I remember the waterpump was the exact same brand as the oem waterpump on my car.
The only thing i don't like about this kit, are the belts. ITM i think? I rather go with Gates or Contitech if you want to go aftermarket.

I have also purchased the same timming kit that sonyslave got (- bs belts) Along with many other parts and they are all high quality parts. I only have 1,200 miles on my rebuild but no worries. I would not hesitate to buy from them again in the future!! Great People, Fast shippers.

I can't think of the namebrand belts that Bruce sells for the 4G63, but if you go to the parts department at your local Mitsu dealer, they are exactly the same. I checked I've done 4 total timing jobs with parts from Bruce and have nothing but positive things to say. Bruce's service is top notch!

The only part I found cheaper was the 2G timing tensioner and it was about $25 cheaper at my local dealer. Other than that Bruce always has the best prices anywhere.

I have been dealing with Bruce at PD for years and he personally stands behind the products he sells. I have yet to get anything bad from him but if I were to, I am almost positive he would at least help pay for damages cause by faulty parts out of his own pocket. He has always been a very honest and trustworthy vendor as long as I have dealt with him.

As for timing components for a 4g63, I usually order from www.ongreenperformance.com They sell contitech belts which is the manufacturer for factory dsm, bmw, etc timing belts. All that I have purchased from them have also had factory Mitsu part #'s on them. They are also very reasonably priced with timing packages that can be built to order, i.e. timing belt kit for engines with no bs. Shipping has also always been as quick as Bruce.

the tensioner i got from parts dinosaur had the same casting numbers as my oem mitsu, good service fast shipping

When I got my kit from PD, I got a Flennor timing and balance shaft belt, ITM water pump, ITM bearings, and Gates accessory belts.

I bought new timing parts from Bruce at Parts dinosaur and never had any issues with them. Im also using a set of revised 3g lifters from him as well.
Ive bought bearings, engine gasket kits and othe stuff from him for my DSM and a couple of my buddies cars and we never had any issues to date.

I live in AZ so I always get next day shipping with usps priority mail.

Wow, I'm surprised by the responses about some of his parts being the same stuff sold at the Mitsubishi dealership. So you guys are saying that the tensioner is actually cheaper at the dealership? I think I'll check that out tomorrow just to make sure.

I have been going round and round in my head about where to buy the parts for my build. For the timing package I can get oem from www.JNZTuning.net for $340 or I can get it from pd for $200. An oem full gasket set from jnz for $200, A topline from slowboy for $200, or a itm set from pd for $75. I have had bad luck buying cheep Chinese componets from napa so now I stick to name brands. The local engine remanufacture that offers 50K warrentys uses topline exclusivly. I think for critical components I should stick with oem or topline but the pd gasket set looks good to me. Only problem is it looks like the intake gasket is not metal like oem. PD prices cant be beat and very positive reviews all around.

Give it a shot. Some dealer prices are regional and depend on how often they work on said type of vehicle. My local dealership try's to move alot of 2Gs and EVOs. Someone should email Bruce about being a site sponsor.

Sounds pretty good, see if I get any more bites feedback.

I like the fact that everything I have seen on there, is about half the price I have seen anywhere else.
