Engine is out of the car for a front case reseal. Putting it all back together and noticed the Idle & Tensioner Pulley don't spin silently. Holding it to the ear and spinning it by hand I can hear a sound. It's barely audible but I can hear the bearings inside.

So to be safe I decided to replace them.

Found these on the parts dinosaur site:

4G63 4G63T 2.0 Timing Belt Tensioner Bearing Mitsubishi and Hyundai

4G63 4G63T 2.0 4G64 G4JS 2.4 Timing Belt Idler Bearing Mitsubishi and Hyundai engines

These are NOT OEM correct?

Does anyone know if they are equal quality to OEM ones?

Any other recommendations?

Cheers.

You're correct in the fact they aren't OEM, at least based off of colors and brand names.

As far as being OEM quality, I'm not sure as I've never used them. The OEM ones are built in Japan (says so on the pulley) and I don't see GMB on there anywhere FWIW.

Should I get OEM ones?

When it comes to important parts such as timing belt components, especially when they only have to be replaced every 60k (or when other issues arise), I prefer and would recommend OEM parts unless you know for sure another brand will work well.

But I'll wait and see if someone else has used them and what their thoughts/reviews are before I fully tell you one way or the other.

Yeah that was my thinking as well.

I have the Korean ones on my engine right now. The guy who built it for me must have put them in.

So these bearings should spin 100% silently? Because mine don't. Tiny tiny amount of noise.

Is that to hold the pulley(eccentric one) steady while wrenching on it? Every timing belt tool kit ive seen comes with one so i would GUESS it is necessary. Its a little mini spanner.

Have you ever done a timing belt job? If not, I'd recommending getting that tool as well as the cam gear lock.

The first one is necessary to properly tension the pulley before torquing it down. The second is instead of using two wrenches to align cam gears and hold while trying to string belt around everything.

Nice! I'd recommend getting both of those tools as they'll make the job much easier. Before you remove the old belt (if you haven't yet), get it to TDC with all marks aligned and insert the cam lock tool. Then remove the belt. Then you can put the new one on and use the other tool to apply tension to the belt via the tensioner pulley and torque it down. Just remember to remove the cam lock tool before trying to start the car!!!

And the rest is in the VFAQ and/or in threads on here.

Also, not sure if you've got a belt yet, but the Evo 9 belt is a slight upgrade as it's kevlar reinforced. Part number is 1145A038.

Thats a must-have. Oddly enough, i dont have one. Thanks for the link. Ordering one in the morning. Between those 2 tools that should do it. Unless youre changing t belt with engine in the car. then you need the long bolt as well iirc

good price on a gatees blue if you need one

That's only if you don't want to take the tensioner out of the car. I've never had luck with that long bolt so I take the tensioner out, compress it slowly in a vice, and put the pin back in. That's only if I know the tensioner is still good and doesn't have many miles on it.

I don't know if you have already ordered or not but JNZ has slightly better prices on those parts and awesome customer service. Take a look if it's not too late. Timing Components : JNZ Tuning.

Also those tools are not critical, I have done several timing belt jobs and never used them. Binder clips work really well to hold the belt on the cam gear and keep everything lined up.
