Hi guys haven't posted in awhile.

The car has been driving like a turd through the winter so I stopped drivin it. It didn't feel like it was boosting right so i finally made a boost leak tester and tested it earlier today. I heard a huge leak coming from somewhere and after about 20 minutes finally managed to track it down.

There is a little black part located under the battery tray that has 3 vacuum hoses connected to it. One of the hoses was completely broken off. That particular hose comes from the intake manifold and was loosing all of my pressure.

I would like to know what that part is so I can replace it and get my baby running right again. I did not remove the battery/tray to see it better cause i ran out of time and just plugged off the hose cause the car runs "ok" without it hooked up seeings how it has probably been runnin without it for awhile. It also looked like the previous owner had just glued the nipple back on.

The car is a 95 TSI AWD. Any info would be greatly appreciated. If more info is needed I will try to elaborate but I couldn't see it that well without taking things apart and I have already went through the manual to try to identify it but didn't see anything that was close to it. Oh and it sits next to the canister. Again thx for any help you guys can provide.

A pic would be great help. Where on the intake manifold is the hose coming from? If you could figure that out then you could look it up in your book, or post it on here and I'm sure someone could identify where it needs to go.

To me it sounds like you may be talking about the BCS(Boost Control Solenoid), but it is right below the fuse box, not under the battery tray.

Sounds like you are talking about the Charcole canister.
Is it around the size of a coffee can?
I no you said its near it - but are you sure it isnt either it or a part of it?

It isn't the BCS cause that is the first thing I checked and have been checkin to make sure one of the hoses didn't pop off of that through the winter hehe. I am thinking it is the canister purge valve now but???. I will try to get some pics and actually get it off maybe tomorrow when I finally get some time off of work. Thx for responding, hopefully we can track this thing down. Oh yeah it hooks up on the bottom of the intake.

Thx guys. I am gonna get it off tomorrow if it doesn't rain and see if the ones that autozone or csk has are the right ones. I have horrible problems with them not actually having the right parts even though the are "supposed" to be. Everyone has these same horror stories I am sure hehe ;)

Tell them it's a '95 Mitsu Eclipse GSX whenever you ask for parts (unless you happen to be vacationing in Canada, then tell them it's a Talon). The part's the same. I've had better luck at Autozone, Carquest, etc. with that.

I actually do that anyway. But neither autozone or csk have the canister purge valve for the eclipse gsx. They do list it for the talon but when I cross reference the part numbers it is listed the same for the ESi and TSi. Is it the same part or different for the 420a and 4g63? I would guess different because of the entire system design and locations of the canisters but could be wrong I guess.
