Well it is connected to a T off. The two hoses come off of the valve cover. The 90* angle part of the thing goes no where. I have no idea what the guy did to it before me...

Is the black canister connected to a hose coming off of a nipple on the left side valve cover? If so, it's there to collect blow by oil from excessive crank case pressure in the engine. When there is too much pressure, air flows out of that nipple to relieve pressure. In it's stock form, that nipple is connected by a hose to the intake pipe however, when pressure is high and air comes out of that nipple, oil can come along with it which you don't want going through the turbo and into the engine so people tend to disconnect that hose and either put a little filter on there to not re-route hot oil into the engine or a catch can which just collects the oil or in your case, a ghetto catch can. Hope this helped.

So the way it is is perfectly fine? Meaning not having another hose at the other end going somewhere? And what is that circular thing in the second picture?

Yea, if the hose is coming from the nipple on the left side of the VC and it attaches to the black canister, then that's fine it's just collecting blow- by oil and from the looks of it just slowly dripping it out. If you want you can always attach a hose to the end which doesn't have one and just point it towards the ground to protect your engine bay because although most people (including me) just put a little breather filter on that, if pressure is great enough, the hot oily air will just blow all over your engine bay instead of into your intake. Check this link out, it should help. http://members.shaw.ca/dsm.1000q/Engineprimer/2G/breatherhose.htm If you click back on that page it shows you a bunch of other stuff under the hood that you may be wanting to locate. The second unit looks to be your CAS or camshaft angle sensor. It attaches to the camshaft on the left side of the head above the breather and tells the ECU engine position so it knows where to deliver fuel and spark etc... here's a link to that : http://members.shaw.ca/dsm.1000q/Engineprimer/2G/cas.htm note that the CAS in the pic looks different only because it's from a 2g not a 1g.

Its not the CAS. That thing is just dangeling in my engine bay LOL.

Ill get a better pic tomorrow when there is light.
